Ozone Generators for Hotel & Motel Operations: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Quickly Destroy Odors < Back Hotel Odor Removal Ozone Treatments Ozone Generators for Hotel & Motel Operations: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Quickly Destroy Odors Background: Since 2008 we've helped thousands of hotel owners and operators successfully deodorize and disinfect their rooms with our MaxBlaster ozone generators. Whether you have a single room with a bad odor problem, or you have a large hotel property and are in need of frequent, high-volume disinfection, we can show you exactly how to perform ozone treatments like an expert. Super Fast Results Our MaxBlaster ozone generators quickly produce extremely high-concentrations of ozone gas and can successfully treat an average hotel room in 30 minutes to a couple of hours (depending on odor degree). The best part is that our machines are known to last much longer than ordinary ozone machines. Because we use industrial grade components and provide long-term service and support, hotel owners love that they can keep their ozone machine running strong for as long as they own it. Introduction Maintaining excellent indoor air quality (IAQ) is a vital aspect of ensuring a pleasant and healthy environment for guests in hotels and motels. With the increasing emphasis on disinfection, MaxBlaster ozone generators have proven to be an extremely valuable tool for effectively purifying the air and eliminating odors. In this article, we will provide an overview of MaxBlaster ozone generators and explore how hotels and motels can benefit from their use, along with guidelines on how to use them safely and efficiently. Understanding Ozone Generators MaxBlaster ozone generators are devices that produce ozone (O3), a naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. Ozone is a powerful oxidant that helps in removing airborne contaminants, such as bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors. Ozone works by reacting with these pollutants, breaking them down and neutralizing them, ultimately resulting in cleaner and fresher air. Advantages of Ozone Generators Improved Air Quality: Ozone generators can significantly improve the overall air quality in hotel rooms and common areas. They effectively neutralize odors caused by smoking, cooking, pets, or other sources, providing guests with a cleaner and more pleasant environment. Enhanced Disinfection: Ozone has strong disinfectant properties and can help eliminate harmful microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses. By using ozone generators, hotels and motels can augment their existing cleaning and sanitation protocols, providing an additional layer of protection against potential health risks. Energy Efficiency: Ozone generators are energy-efficient devices that consume relatively low amounts of electricity. They can operate continuously or be set on timers to optimize their usage and minimize energy consumption. Fast Results: Given that the average hotel room is small (compared to an entire house) you can quickly reach the ozone concentrations necessary to disinfect and deodorize. Most hotel odors are relatively new and have not been saturated for long periods of time so they can be treated faster compared to other more saturated odors. On average, most hotel room odors can be treated within a couple of hours. Usage Guidelines While ozone generators offer numerous benefits, it is important to use them properly to avoid potential health risks. Follow these guidelines when utilizing ozone generators in hotels and motels: Occupancy Considerations : Ozone generators should be used when rooms are unoccupied. Guests and staff should not be present during the ozone treatment process as ozone can be harmful when inhaled in high concentrations. Room Conditions: It is very important that the hotel room be completely dry prior to running the ozone machine. Humidity and moisture will render the ozone treatment less effective, and may cause the components of the ozone machine to require service more frequently. The carpets, upholstery, and bed sheets should not wet or damp from a recent cleaning. Keep all areas that you wish to treat open and exposed: closets, drawers, etc. Machine Placement: Place the ozone machine in a central location so that the ozone gas can be distributed in an even manner across the room. Do not run the ozone machine on the floor. Ozone is heavier than air so it tends to go downwards. Placing the machine at least at counter top level is recommended. Duration and Intensity: Follow the MaxBlaster Run Time Chart for estimated ozone treatment times based on degree of odor and room size. Most light odors in hotels can be treated within a couple of hours. Stronger odors and larger rooms may require several hours or more of ozone treatment. Post-Treatment Ventilation: After the ozone treatment is complete, allow sufficient time for the ozone to naturally dissipate. Natural dissipation can take up to 2 hours for every 1 hour that you ran the ozone ozone. To speed up the airing out process, ventilate the room thoroughly by opening windows and doors, using fans, or operating the HVAC system to remove any remaining ozone and bring in fresh air. Maintenance: Preventative maintenance is the best maintenance. Clean and maintain the ozone generator regularly as per the manufacturer's instructions. This ensures optimal performance and longevity of the device. Recommendations The MaxBlaster PRO ozone generator is recommended for hotel and motel treatments. It combines professional strength ozone with a long-term lifespan with minimal maintenace. In between uses, store the machine inside of the fitted box (included with purchase) to prevent dust and moisture from entering the machine even during storage. Larger hotels may want to consider purchasing multiple machines to speed up treatment times, treat more than one room at the same time, and overall get greater ozone distribution, concentration, and results. Summary MaxBlaster ozone generators offer hotels and motels an effective solution to enhance indoor air quality, eliminate odors, and improve overall guest experience. By following our usage guidelines, hotels can harness the benefits of ozone generators while prioritizing the well-being and comfort of their guests. Integrating ozone generators into existing cleaning and sanitation practices can contribute to a healthier and more inviting environment for all occupants, ultimately promoting customer satisfaction and loyalty. • MaxBlaster Service & Maintenance | Repairs & Support Info

Need service for your MaxBlaster ozone generator? Find maintenance tips, repair options, and support for keeping your machine in top condition. Service Department Maintain Your MaxBlaster Forever Skip to Submit Request How to Care For Your MaxBlaster The key to long-lasting performance is keeping the inside of your machine clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Always set it up where it can breathe the cleanest, driest air possible, and avoid running it on the floor. Instead, place it higher in the room where there is a better supply of oxygen, since ozone naturally settles downward during treatment. After each use, make sure the machine is completely dry before putting it back into the storage bag. For premier maintenance, we recommend blowing compressed air through the unit before and after use to clear away any dust or debris that may have settled on the plate pack. How to Diagnose Your MaxBlaster When operating correctly, your MaxBlaster should produce consistent glowing rows of corona discharge from the plate pack. The easiest way to test this is by bringing the machine into a very dark room and briefly looking into the outlet end (be careful not to breathe in too much ozone during this step). If you see an uneven spark or arcing from just one of the plates, the simplest fix is to replace the plate pack. If the machine shows no power at all, the issue may be as simple as a disconnected wire near the fuse holder on the inlet end. For further guidance, fill out the service form at the bottom of this page and we’ll walk you through the next steps. How to Replace the Plate Pack Replacement plate packs can be purchased directly from our website shop and self-installed, or you can ship your machine to us for full service. To replace the plate pack yourself, begin by removing the end piece on the inlet (filter) end, then take out the two bolts holding the generator pack in place and gently slide it out of the machine. Disconnect the plate pack from the two wire nuts connected to the transformer, then install the new plate pack by reversing the steps. Be careful to position the wire nuts so they do not touch other wires or components, as they can become hot during operation. Finally, double-check that the plates and steel mesh are perfectly aligned — left to right, forward and back — since proper alignment is essential for the machine to function correctly. How to Ship Your MaxBlaster to Us If you’d prefer to have us service your machine, you can send it to our full service department in Ohio. • Cannabis Grow Room Ozone Treatments

Ozone Generators for Cannabis Grow Rooms: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Minimize Failure Rates & More. < Back Cannabis Grow Room Ozone Treatments Ozone Generators for Cannabis Grow Rooms: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Minimize Failure Rates & More. Background Over the last several years, more and more cannabis companies have turned to our MaxBlaster ozone generators as an effective method to disinfect grow rooms and reduce inspection failure rates by treating their crops with high-intensity ozone. This application has tremendous benefits to cannabis companies and can make a huge financial difference to their bottom line. We ask any cannabis grower who wants to learn how to perform ozone treatments properly to contact us for expert advice and recommendations before using our machines. Introduction In the ever-expanding cannabis industry, growers face many challenges in ensuring the quality and safety of their crops. Inspection failure rates can lead to substantial financial losses and damage to a company's reputation. Additionally, maintaining a sterile environment in grow rooms between cycles is vital for preventing the spread of mites and mold. To tackle these issues, cannabis companies are using our MaxBlaster ozone generators as a game-changing solution. Ozone generators offer an innovative approach to improving crop quality, reducing inspection failures, and enhancing overall cultivation efficiency. Understanding Ozone Generators Ozone (O₃) is a naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. Ozone generators are devices that produce and release ozone into the air. These generators utilize electrical discharges or ultraviolet light to convert oxygen molecules (O₂) into ozone molecules (O₃). Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent and possesses strong antimicrobial properties, making it an effective tool for sterilization and disinfection. Reducing Inspection Failure Rates One of the primary concerns for cannabis cultivators is the failure to meet the strict regulatory standards governing the industry. Inspection failures can occur due to the presence of harmful bacteria, fungi, molds, and pests on the plants. This not only poses health risks to consumers but also results in financial losses for the growers. Ozone generators are being increasingly employed in cannabis cultivation facilities to combat these challenges. By releasing ozone on to the product, ozone generators effectively neutralize various microorganisms, including bacteria, molds, mildews, and viruses. Ozone molecules react with the cell walls of these pathogens, disrupting their structure and rendering them inert. The result is a significantly reduced risk of contamination and a higher likelihood of passing inspections. Sterilizing Grow Rooms Maintaining a sterile environment is crucial for cannabis growers, particularly between different grow cycles. After a harvest, the grow room may harbor residual contaminants, pathogens, and pests that can affect subsequent crops. Thoroughly sterilizing the grow room becomes essential to prevent the recurrence of mites, diseases, or subpar yields. Ozone generators play a pivotal role in the sterilization process. When employed correctly, ozone effectively kills mites, molds, fungi, and pathogens without leaving behind harmful residues. Ozone gas can permeate hard-to-reach areas, including ventilation systems, corners, and cracks, ensuring a comprehensive sterilization of the entire grow room. By eradicating potential threats, growers can start each cycle with a clean room, reducing the risk of crop contamination and enhancing overall productivity. Advantages of Ozone Generators Chemical-Free: Ozone generators offer a chemical-free method of sterilization and disinfection. This aspect is particularly important for organic cannabis cultivators who prioritize environmentally friendly and sustainable practices. Odor Control: Cannabis cultivation often generates pungent aromas. Ozone generators help neutralize and eliminate these odors, creating a more pleasant environment for workers and nearby residents. Cost-Effective: Compared to traditional sterilization methods that rely on chemical treatments or fumigation, ozone generators offer a cost-effective alternative. Once installed, the ongoing operational costs are relatively low. Time Efficiency: Ozone generators can sterilize grow rooms quickly and efficiently, saving time for growers who need to prepare the space for the next cultivation cycle promptly. Recommendations Most of the cannabis companies that use our machines prefer the strongest ozone machine possible (our PRO-G ozone generator). Many of these companies use multiple machines at the same time in an effort to speed up treatments and reach exceptionally high levels of ozone gas. If you are using multiple ozone machines it is not always necessary to use our strongest ozone machine. Our PRO Edition ozone generator (the middle of our three models) has lower rate of service and maintenance over the long run compared to the PRO-G Edition. So it would be wise to use 4 of our PRO Edition machines instead of 3 PRO-G Editions. In this scenario, you would get the same amount of ozone but it would be distributed in a manner that may decrease long term maintenance. For more information on using MaxBlaster ozone generators for cannabis applications please contact us for a custom recommendation and quote. Summary As the cannabis industry continues to thrive, meeting regulatory standards and maintaining sterile growing environments are paramount for success. Ozone generators have emerged as an innovative solution to tackle these challenges head-on. By reducing inspection failure rates and sterilizing grow rooms between cycles, ozone generators provide cannabis companies with an effective tool to improve crop quality, safeguard consumer health, and enhance overall cultivation efficiency. As the industry expands, we can expect to see more cannabis cultivators adopting our MaxBlaster ozone generators as a standard practice in their operations. It is written with the intention of explaining things in everyday language and not in the fanciest, most scientific terms (forgive any typo’s and grammatical errors). We plan on updating this guide on a regular basis as more questions get asked. So, feel free to give us feedback and suggestions. HOW IT WORKS In the simplest terms, the goal is to flood the treatment area with an overabundance of ozone gas in order to “shock” treat odors at their source. The goal is not to clean the air as it passes through the machine. Rather, oxygen (O2) enters the machine and is converted to ozone (O3) which then exits the machine and begins to fill the treatment space. Our machines are known for producing much higher concentrations of ozone than ordinary machines and therefore can eliminate odors faster, and better, than typical ozone generators. BEFORE GETTING STARTED Our machines produce ozone in levels that are considered unhealthy to breathe for extended periods. They are intended to be operated in spaces that are unoccupied during the treatment. However, they are much easier and safer to operate than people often assume. Follow the instructions in this guide to the best of your ability. If you cannot follow every step exactly as written, use your best judgement to meet as many of the recommendations as possible. We are always on hand to answer your questions so contact us if you need advice for your specific application prior to using our machines. (B) OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS Given that each project and property is different, it may be impossible to follow each step in this guide exactly as written. That is okay. Do not paralyze yourself by overthinking it. Overall the process is simple and safer than you might imagine. Do your best to follow as many recommendations as possible. Use your best judgement and contact us if you need advice. (B1) INSPECT MACHINE PRIOR TO USE Prior to each use you should inspect your MaxBlaster to make sure that it is functioning properly. When functioning properly your MaxBlaster should exhibit the following signs related to airflow, sound, scent, and sight: CHECK FOR AIRFLOW When the MaxBlaster is turned on you should detect an obvious flow of air being pulled into one end of the machine (foam filter end) and exhausted out the opposite end as ozone (finger guard end). The fan is located immediately inside the inlet end of the machine. It is important to ensure the fan is working properly before each use. If the fan is not working properly you will not detect any airflow coming in or out of the machine and the top of the unit may become warm as the transformer inside the machine is not being cooled. It is uncommon for the fan to not be working and it should be easy to detect. CHECK FOR SOUND When the MaxBlaster is turned on you should recognize a constant, subtle ‘buzzing’ sound coming from immediately within the outlet end of the machine. This sound is an indication that the set of plates (generator pack) within the machine is creating ozone via a corona discharge process. If the generator pack is not working properly you may detect no sound other than the fan blowing air and/or you may detect only an inconsistent sparking sound coming from one location on one of the plates. If the generator pack is not functioning properly see the service & maintenance section of this guide. CHECK FOR SCENT When the MaxBlaster is turned on you should immediately recognize the scent of ozone gas being emitted from the outlet end of the machine. The scent can be described as strong and somewhat unpleasant. Note: ozone in low levels is often described as “mountain fresh”. However, the MaxBlaster produces extremely high levels of ozone that more closely resembles the scent of chlorine or bleach. Once you become familiar with the unique scent of ozone it will be easy to detect. If the machine is not working properly you will not detect the ozone scent and instead you will only detect air passing through the chamber. Note: You can quickly hold your nose up to the machine to smell ozone however prolonged exposure to too much ozone gas may quickly become irritating. Quickly test for the scent of ozone then to turn off the machine until you are ready to begin the full ozone application cycle. CHECK FOR CLEANLINESS Before operating your MaxBlaster you should check that the machine appears clean and free of visible grime and residue. Inspect the foam filter on the inlet end of the machine. If it appears dirty remove it and rinse it clean with water. Dry it and place it back on to the machine. You should also peak into the outlet end of the machine (where the finger guard is located). From the outlet end of the machine you can see the generator pack (plates). If the generator pack and/or the inside of the machine shows signs of grime or residue follow the guidelines in section (F) Service & Maintenance. Those who use their MaxBlaster on a high frequency basis and/or in commercial applications in harsh environments may develop grime or residue on the internal shell and/or components of the machine. In extreme cases where grime or residue becomes thick and gooey it may create the risk of heating up and potentially melting. If your machine shows signs of heavy grime on the internal components, please discontinue use and follow the guidelines in service & maintenance section of this guide. CHECK WITH SIGHT (OPTIONAL) When the MaxBlaster is turned on and functioning properly it is possible to peek into the outlet end of the machine and view the corona discharge taking place between each plate of the generator pack. Doing so requires you to look in the machine at close range. Those sensitive to ozone may want to avoid this step and simply rely on testing the airflow, sound, and scent. For those who wish to view the actual corona discharge process you must first place the machine in a dark room. Turn the machine on and look in the outlet end of the machine. When functioning properly you will notice purple glowing lines coming from between each row of plates in the generator pack. If the machine is not functioning properly you may see no purple glowing lines or you may notice an arcing (sparking) on one of the plates while the other plates remain dormant. If you do not recognize the constant purplish glowing discharge from the generator pack see the service & maintenance section of this guide. (B2) PREPARE TREATMENT SPACE While ozone generators are a proactive cleaning agent that can neutralize volatile organic compounds (odors) they may only be one part of the overall cleaning effort. For permanent results it is often necessary to complete other steps towards removing the source of the odor itself. The success of your treatment will in large part depend on your ability to combine the benefits of ozone with other common-sense preparation steps. For advice on your specific application contact us prior to use. STOP THE SOURCE OF ODOR The only way to stop an odor permanently is if you remove the source itself. In many cases ozone generators are just one of the final steps of the overall cleaning process. For example, a musty basement will only be permanently free of odors if the moisture that is causing the odor is permanently stopped. For each project it is important to stop the source of the odor before using the ozone generator. For example, this may include removing a dead mouse, removing flood damaged carpeting, and scrubbing walls and existing residue. For serious problems such as flood damage stopping the source may require extensive effort such as removing damaged drywall. Hopefully, you get the point of this concept. While ozone is an extremely powerful cleaning agent it is not a miracle worker that takes the place of other common-sense cleaning protocols. WHAT IF YOU CAN’T STOP THE SOURCE? If you cannot permanently remove the source of the odor it may be necessary to retreat the space if new odors develop. After your initial ozone treatment, you can often scale back the ‘maintenance’ treatments to shorter run times as new odors redevelop. See the section regarding refresh (short) treatments later in this guide for more information. What this means is that while permanent odor removal may not be possible with one ozone treatment, it may be possible by performing shorter ozone treatments on a periodic basis. MINIMIZE MOISTURE AND HUMIDITY It is a common rule in ozone applications that the lower the humidity the more potent the ozone will perform. If the humidity levels are especially high (>75%) it is recommended that you take steps to reduce the humidity before applying the ozone. In many cases dehumidifiers can greatly impact the success of your treatment. Ozone will not be as effective on wet surfaces such as damp carpets. For best results, make sure that all items within the treatment area are dry prior to applying the ozone. EXPOSE ALL SURFACE AREAS Ozone will only react with surface level odors and will not easily penetrate through walls, doors, or most fabrics. It is important to expose all surface areas so that ozone can reach them. This includes opening cabinets, drawers, and closets, lifting bed mattresses, separating clothes, and placing all individual items in an open manner with space in between each surface area. Make sure that all items you wish to deodorize are dry and not stacked on top of one another. SET UP FANS FOR DISTRIBUTION In order to help distribute the ozone it is recommended to set up some fans in the treatment area. Low to moderate intensity fans are preferred over high-intensity blowers. Box fans, table fans, and mini fans are acceptable. Turn any ceiling fans on and have them spinning in the direction that helps pull the air upwards. Visit section (C) Accessory Equipment for a great fan recommendation. FAN STRATEGY TO BOOST OZONE Here is a strategic plan to help turbo-charge your ozone treatment: place a moderate intensity fan about 12”-24” in front of your ozone machine (on the outlet end where the ozone comes out). Face it in the same airflow direction as the machine. The goal is to help encourage a greater pull of air through the ozone machine and to help distribute the ozone away from the machine. Remember, the goal is not to blow the fan into the machine. Rather, by placing the fan on the outlet end of the machine, in the same airflow direction, you can help pull more oxygen through the ozone machine and thus create more ozone. In addition, the greater the airflow through the machine the healthier it is for the plates over the long term as less microscopic debris are likely to settle on the plates. WINDOWS: KEEP OPEN OR CLOSED? The overall goal is to allow ozone to reach high concentration levels in the treatment area. Therefore, it is common sense that windows should be kept closed during the ozone application. However, for advanced users there may be benefits to keeping one or two windows slightly open (1”-2”) across larger homes for the purpose of airflow and ozone distribution. For example, keeping a window slightly open on one side of a home may positively affect the pull of ozone from an ozone machine that is operating on the opposite side of the home. If you are unfamiliar with this concept it is recommended to keep it simple and just keep all windows closed during the ozone treatment. For car treatments read the section in this guide that discusses car applications. CENTRAL AIR SYSTEM: TURN ON OR OFF? While there may be some benefits to running the central air system as part of the ozone treatment it is not recommended to rely on the central air system as the only method to evenly distribute the ozone in high concentrations across an entire home. Running the central air system may in fact lessen the concentration of ozone in the treatment area. Therefore, it is recommended to run the ozone machine in the room itself to allow the ozone to reach the highest concentrations. After allowing the ozone to build up in the treatment area it may be beneficial to then turn on the central air system in order to pull ozone into the vents for cleaning. If you choose to face your machine so that it is blowing directly into the vents, understand that you will be mostly cleaning the vents instead of the treatment area. For some applications where the highest concentrations of ozone are not necessary, you may run the ozone machine into the cold air return to distribute lower levels of ozone across an entire home. This method may be ideal for lighter odors and those treatments where permanent odor removal is not the goal. Contact us if you need advice on whether to use the central air system for your application. PILOT LIGHTS: LEAVE ON OR OFF? Ozone is not flammable, nor should it have any effect on pilot lights. Therefore, it is not necessary to turn off the pilot lights to your water heater or similar appliances. PAINTING WALLS: BEFORE OR AFTER? If possible, it is recommended to perform the ozone treatment prior to painting and sealing walls. Once you paint and/or seal the walls (ex: Kilz) the odors may become trapped and harder for the ozone to reach. In addition, although paint dries quickly it can often take many days or weeks to completely cure. If you perform an ozone treatment immediately after painting or sealing walls, the ozone may react in unpredictable ways if it breathes any chemical-based fumes. If you have recently painted the walls, make sure to allow enough time for the paint to be completely cured. Read the specifications on the back of the paint can for more information. REMOVE PEOPLE, PETS, AND PLANTS Before running your MaxBlaster plan to have all people and pets out of the treatment area. It is also recommended to cover up or remove any valuable plants. If you are exposed to too much ozone for an extended length of time you may start to experience moderate irritation to your lungs and eyes. Note: our opinion is that brief exposure to high levels of ozone is not extremely dangerous to the average person. Breathing higher levels of ozone for short periods is not cause for panic. It almost takes a purposeful effort to cause damage to people, pets, and plants. Once you return to an area with fresh air often the irritation from ozone exposure quickly goes away. Those with sensitive respiratory systems should use extra caution. Overall, please use common sense and listen to your body. Do not remain in an area of high ozone concentration for more than a few minutes. Make an intelligent plan of action prior to starting the ozone treatment and contact us for further advice if necessary. CAN YOU REMAIN IN ADJACENT ROOMS? It may be possible to remain in one part of a home while you are treating a different area of the home by sealing off the treatment area (example: closing doors). However, you must use your own best judgement. If you experience any irritation it is recommended to adjust your protocol. For the average person the irritation associated with exposure to too much ozone is moderate and can be quickly eliminated by returning to an area with fresh air. For those with existing health conditions and/or those with sensitive respiratory systems the irritation associated with too much ozone may pose more of a risk. Our advice is to keep some windows open and fans running in the area you are occupying if you are treating an adjacent part of your home (example: basement treatments). For more information and advice please contact us prior to use. It is your responsibility to ensure safety to all people and pets so please consider this information as our opinion and not medical grade advice. For absolute safety remove all people, and pets from the treatment area for the entire duration of ozone treatment and airing out process. (B3) PLACE MACHINE INTO POSITION One of the key contributors to the success of your ozone treatments both in the short and long term is proper placement of your ozone machine. By placing your machine in the most advantageous position you can not only improve the effectiveness of the treatment, but you can increase the lifespan of the machine itself. Although there are too many treatment types and variables to describe in detail in this guide, if you understand the basic rules of ozone you can apply them to just about every type of application. It may be impossible to apply each of the following recommendations to every treatment. Use common sense to combine as many of the following recommendations as possible to your unique situation. For more information visit the “guide” page of our website and/or contact us for advice. (B3A) HOMES & PROPERTIES Understand that ozone generators do not work by cleaning the air as it passes through the machine. The goal is not to have dirty air enter the machine and “zap” the odors away. Rather, the goal of an ozone machine is to “generate” ozone so that it fills the treatment space with high levels of ozone gas. The cleaning action takes place in the treatment area and not the machine itself. Do your best to apply as many of the following recommendations to your home and property treatments as possible: MAXIMIZE AIR INTAKE QUALITY The cleaner the air that your ozone machine breathes over time the longer it will perform at optimal levels. One of the first questions to ask yourself when placing your ozone machine in position is “where can it breathe the highest quality air?”. If your machine breathes certain types of dirty air molecules (examples: cat urine, cigarette smoke) over extended periods and/or repetitive uses it may begin to leave residue and grime on the internal components and plates. Although the machine may still remove odors and perform as expected if exposed to dirty air over the short term, you may notice reduced performance over the long term. In addition, it may result in the need to service your machine (example: replace the plates) sooner than expected. One suggestion is to place your machine so that the intake end is located directly next to a window that is open a couple inches (assuming the outdoor air is of higher quality than the indoor air). Place a fan in front of the machine (on the outlet end where ozone exits the machine) and in the same airflow direction. You may want to cover the rest of the open window with tape or newspaper in order to create a 4” x 4” opening that matches the intake end of the machine. This set up will allow the machine to breathe fresh clean air throughout the treatment, while the fan helps distribute the ozone into the center of the treatment area. Don’t overthink this recommendation. If it is not possible to set your machine up so that it is breathing fresh clean air it will not have a huge effect on the treatment itself. Breathing fresh clean air may improve the lifespan of the machine but it is not a make or break rule. Follow the other recommendations to the best of your ability. CENTRAL LOCATION Place your machine as close as possible to the central part of the treatment area. Counter-top level is acceptable for most applications however there are advantages the higher you place your machine (see next paragraph). Use common sense in terms of placing your machine in a manner that the ozone will be directed towards the source of the odor and the central part of your treatment area. PLACE & AIM HIGH Ozone gas is heavier than oxygen and tends to move in a downward direction*. Therefore, it is recommended to place your machine as high in the treatment area as possible. Counter-top level is acceptable for most applications. Do not place your machine on the floor. If possible, place a fan in front of your machine (on the outlet end where ozone is exiting the machine) and angle it upwards to help distribute the ozone towards the ceiling at the center of the treatment space. *this does not mean that all the ozone immediately drops downward. If you run an ozone machine in a basement you will eventually smell the ozone several floors above. However, it is better to have the ozone start from a higher location rather than trying to force it to move in an upward direction. FACE MACHINE INTO VENTS? While in some instances there may be advantages to placing your ozone machine so that it is directed into the central air system it is not recommended to rely on the central air system as the only way to distribute ozone in high concentrations across an entire home. For more information on this subject please read section (B2) Prepare Space for Treatment. SAFE & STURDY PLACEMENT Please use common sense when placing your high-voltage, high-ozone-output machine into position. Do not place it on the floor. Do not place it in a manner that it can fall over. Do not place it in a manner that it can be accessed by children or pets during operation. Do not place it in a manner that debris can easily enter the machine while in use. Although ozone is not flammable, avoid placing the machine where anything flammable may enter the machine. If you intend on leaving the premises during the ozone application process take steps to prevent anyone else from unknowingly entering the treatment area. For example, leave a sign that indicates “do not enter / air treatment in progress / keep out”. Although the actual risk of injury or damage is quite low, be safe rather than sorry. It is 100% your responsibility to ensure safe operation of your ozone machine. For more information contact us prior to use. USING MULTIPLE MACHINES One of the easiest ways to increase the speed, size, and degree of your ozone treatment is to use multiple ozone machines. Commercial businesses often use multiple ozone machines to speed up the treatments, treat larger areas, and offer more permanent results. Using multiple ozone machines also allows you to more evenly distribute the ozone in even concentrations across larger areas. The math is simple. Using two ozone machines cuts the treatment time in half. It also doubles the size of the coverage area that you can treat in one session. If your treatment area is very large you can use one ozone machine from room to room over multiple treatments. Or you may use multiple machines to treat the space at one time. For more information contact us for multiple unit pricing and commercial business advice. (B3B) VEHICLES & SMALL SPACES For vehicles and small spaces under 100sqft consider the following recommendations. If you place your ozone machine inside the treatment area it will quickly begin to recycle its own ozone. It is also more likely to breathe the same dirty air that you are trying to treat. Breathing dirty air over time may increase the rate at which the plates will become grimy with residue and need to be replaced. It is recommended to use the basic hose accessory to allow your ozone machine to remain outside the treatment area while pushing ozone into the treatment area via the hose. See section (C) Accessories for more information. Although it is not mandatory to use the basic hose accessory it is recommended for those who will be using their machines on a frequent basis and/or in commercial applications. Keep it simple and do not over-engineer the set up. Place the hose on the outlet end of the machine where the ozone exits the machine. Make sure the machine is as close to the window as possible and the hose is not stretched too far or too high. Run the hose in through the window and cover up the rest of the window with a towel. Contact us for further advice. (B3C) APPAREL & INDIVIDUAL ITEMS If you wish to treat apparel or individual items, consider the following recommendations. The overall goal is to place the items inside of a small treatment area (box, closet, small room) and then treat the small space with high levels of ozone. One common recommendation for a treatment area is a portable closet that you can buy at any home improvement store. The items must be placed in a manner that all surface areas are exposed. They cannot be stacked on top of on another. The basic hose accessory is recommended in order to allow the machine to remain outside the treatment space. The target hose accessory is available for those who wish to blow ozone directly into fabric and upholstery. Given the unique complexity of treating apparel and individual items please contact us for advice. (B4) APPLY OZONE: RUN TIME CHART Please see the addendum to this manual (Run Time Chart) for recommended treatment times based on several factors including the degree of odor, size of the treatment space, and type of MaxBlaster you are using. All projects are unique, and it is difficult to accurately predict the exact run time to accomplish your specific goal. Much of your success will be determined by your ability to analyze the results after each cycle and adjust your run time throughout the entire project. Many common odors of moderate intensity and moderate size can be removed in less than one day. Difficult odors and larger spaces may require multiple treatments over multiple days. Extreme odors and oversize spaces may require a prolonged effort. It is not recommended to allow your MaxBlaster to run non-stop for days on end. Doing so may result in adverse results and reactions. It is recommended to limit the run time to 8 hours then repeat with follow up treatments if necessary. Follow the recommendations in the Run Time Chart for best results and contact us if you have questions about your specific application. (B5) AIR OUT TREATMENT SPACE Once you have completed the ozone application you must allow the treatment space to recover back to normal air conditions before allowing people and pets to reoccupy the property. There are two ways to turn off your MaxBlaster ozone generator: manually or with the use of a timer. Follow these guidelines when turning off your machine and allowing the treatment space to return to regular air conditions. CAN YOU ENTER TREATMENT AREA? Although high concentrations of ozone are not healthy to breathe for an extended period, most people can quickly enter and exit the treatment area with minimal risk or irritation. For example, if you need to grab something that you forgot inside the treatment area, most people can quickly enter, remove the item, then exit again with minimal irritation. This holds true for those who plan on turning off their machine manually (see below). For obvious reasons it is advised to plan on quickly entering and exiting an area with high concentrations of ozone. Take measures to minimize your breathing if possible. This may include putting a towel or t-shirt over your face while in the treatment area. For those with sensitive respiratory issues, or pre-existing health conditions, it is recommended to use a respirator mask or to remain out of the treatment space until the ozone has sufficiently returned to regular air. TURN OFF MACHINE MANUALLY Most people can enter and exit the treatment area for a short period (example: 2-3 minutes) with minimal risk and/or irritation. This allows time for those who choose to manually turn off their MaxBlaster. If you choose to manually turn off your ozone machine, prepare to enter and exit the space quickly. Take measures to minimize your breathing which may include putting a towel or t-shirt over your face. Once you turn off your machine exit the space again and allow enough time for the ozone to return to regular air conditions prior to reoccupying the space. TURN OFF MACHINE WITH A TIMER Our machines are intentionally designed without a built-in timer. For an explanation of why this is considered an advantage visit section (C) Accessory Equipment. External timers can be attached to the power cord that will allow you to program the automatic shut-off of your machine. This is recommended for those who cannot be present to turn off the machine and/or those who wish to avoid all exposure to high concentrations of ozone gas. Please follow the instructions that come with your timer to learn how to operate the on/off function. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO AIR OUT? Ozone has a relatively short half-life and naturally begins to dissipate once your MaxBlaster has been turned off. Every thirty minutes, about half the residual ozone present at the beginning of the period will return to oxygen. It will continue in this geometric progression (16-8-4-2-1) every thirty minutes. What this means is that most of the residual ozone returns to oxygen in the first couple hours. However, it may take many more hours for all the residual ozone to return to oxygen in its entirety. NATURALLY: 3 HOURS PER 1 HOUR As a simple safety estimate, for every 1 hour that you ran your MaxBlaster it is recommended to allow 3 hours for the residual ozone to naturally return to safe breathing levels. For example, if you ran your MaxBlaster for 4 hours, it is recommended to allow up to 12 hours prior to reoccupying the space. This estimate may vary based on the size of your treatment area and the type of MaxBlaster that you use (RES, PRO, PRO-G). Some people may be less sensitive to ozone and feel comfortable reoccupying the space sooner than the recommended time. Others may be more sensitive and should allow extra time before reoccupying the space. Overall, please use your best judgement and listen to your senses. If you enter the area and still detect the strong scent of ozone, please allow more airing out time and/or speed up the process by opening windows and using fans. SPEED UP THE AIRING OUT PROCESS If you cannot wait for the ozone to naturally dissipate you may open windows and doors to help flood the treatment space with fresh air and speed up the airing out process. Place fans near windows to help push ozone out and/or pull fresh air back into the space. By opening windows and doors you may significantly reduce the airing out time depending on the number of windows, fans, and property layout. It is recommended to allow at least 1 hour of airing out time even under the most optimal conditions. When turning off your machine prepare to enter the space quickly, open windows and doors, turn on some fans, then exit again until the ozone has been reduced to safe breathing levels. PROS & CONS: SPEED UP AIRING OUT The obvious advantage of opening windows and doors to speed up the airing out process is that you can reoccupy the space much sooner. However, there is a distinct advantage to allowing the residual ozone to convert back to regular oxygen naturally. By allowing the ozone to naturally convert back to oxygen you may neutralize a higher percentage of the original odor. If you are not in an urgent rush to reoccupy the space it is recommended to allow the residual ozone to saturate the treatment area for as long as possible. If possible, allow up to 24 hours before assessing the overall results of your treatment before deciding if it is necessary to repeat the process. See section (B6) for more information. WHEN IS IT SAFE TO REOCCUPY? There are two ways to determine if the treatment space has returned to safe breathing levels. The first is by using your best judgement and following the recommended airing out time. The second is by using an ozone monitor. TRUST YOUR SENSES By following the recommended airing out times (section B5) you can get a good idea of how long it will take for your space to return to safe breathing levels. But you can also rely on your own senses and best judgement. If you enter the treatment area and still detect the strong scent of ozone it should be obvious that you need to allow more time before reoccupying. Ozone has a distinct smell and at low levels may be pleasant. But in high levels it can be irritating to your lungs, eyes, and throat. Enter the treatment area and after a few minutes if you feel any irritation adjust your protocol and allow more time. Don’t panic if you start to feel irritation though. In most instances once you return to an area of fresh oxygen the irritation quickly goes away. USE AN OZONE MONITOR For those wish to avoid risk at all costs, including those who may be operating their MaxBlaster in areas where tenants, guests, employees, and customers may be present, you can use an ozone monitor to detect whether or not the ozone has returned to safe breathing levels. See section (C) Accessory Equipment for more information. Although ozone monitors are relatively expensive, they provide users the ability to ensure absolute safety and are recommended for commercial applications when treating property occupied by people other than yourself. (B6) REPEAT IF NECESSARY After you have completed the ozone application and airing out process, assess the results to decide if it is necessary to repeat the process. Mild odors can often be permanently eliminated with one treatment. Foul odors may require an additional treatment. For intense odors and mold applications it may require that you perform multiple ozone treatments over the course of several days. To learn more about each individual odor read section (H) for recommendations. It is better to perform multiple treatments instead of allowing your machine to run non-stop for several days in a row. Follow the guidelines below and contact us if you need further advice for your specific odor removal project. HOW TO KNOW IF IT WORKED A successful treatment will result in the absence of all odors. The treatment area should smell neutral, sterile, and fresh. You should not smell the scent of ozone either. The goal is not to cover up the odors with ozone but rather to remove them all together. Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to determine if the odors have been removed permanently. Sometimes the odors will return over time. Therefore, it is recommended to err on the side of over-doing it repeat the process if time and convenience allows. For best results follow the application, air-out, and repeat pattern below. "OZONE, AIR-OUT, REPEAT" PATTERN For best results it is not recommended to run your MaxBlaster non-stop for more than 8 hours for most applications. Although some applications may benefit from running your machine longer (example: 12 or 24 hours) it is usually recommended only for spaces larger than 2000sqft. Please contact for advice prior to allowing your machine to run longer than 8 hours at one time. It is recommended to limit your treatment times, then air out the treatment space, and repeat if necessary. Like washing clothes in washing machine, it is better to wash, rinse, and repeat the cycle rather than allowing the wash cycle to continue for too long. Running your ozone machine for too long eventually becomes inefficient. In some instances, running your ozone machine too long may result in adverse effects. See section (D) Safety Precautions for more information. (B7) REFRESH (SHORT) TREATMENTS For some applications where permanent odor removal is not the primary goal, you may run your MaxBlaster for short treatments as a simple way to refresh the air. For example, if your basement has a continuous moisture problem, it may not be possible to kill the odors permanently given they will come back over time. Instead of trying to blast away the odors permanently by running your machine for many hours, it may be more efficient to run your machine for a short period simply to deodorize the air. Keep in mind that your MaxBlaster produces the same amount of ozone in one hour that many ordinary ozone machines produce over 4-8 hours. Running your machine for 30 minutes, for example, may be enough to purify the air to give you the results you want for a day, or two, or more. In addition, short treatments require less inconvenience as you may not have to vacate the property during the treatment. A common protocol used by those who cannot stop the source of odor permanently is to run the MaxBlaster for a heavy treatment to get the property to a base level of cleanliness, then scale back and run short treatments on a periodic basis over time. For example, for a stinky crawl space, you may want to complete a couple 8-hour treatments when you first get the machine. Then scale back and perform short treatments of 1-hour every couple of days going forward. Visit section (H) Recommendations for more information and contact us for advice. (C) ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT There are many accessories that will allow you to optimize your MaxBlaster for specific types of applications. Below is a list of accessories that are currently available in our store. Visit section (H) Recommendations for advice on specific types of odor projects. HOSE ADAPTER The hose adapter is most commonly used for auto detailing. It helps to prolong the lifespan of the plates inside the machine by allowing the machine to remain outside the vehicle so that it can breathe fresh oxygen instead of recycled ozone and dirty air from inside the vehicle. The hose is also used in similar small space applications where limited amounts of fresh air is available. Although the basic hose is not mandatory for car and small space treatments, and the results of the treatment will not be dramatically different, it can help prolong the lifespan of the machine for those who use their machine on a frequent basis in commercial applications and harsh environments. Note: it is recommended to place the hose on the outlet end of the machine in order to push ozone into the window of the vehicle or treatment area. Cover the rest of the open part of the window with a towel. Try to keep the hose as short and as straight as possible. If the hose is forced to bend and stretch too far it may result in the ozone backing up into the machine creating inefficient and reduced results. BOOSTER FAN The booster fan is our recommended fan to use for most applications. By placing the fan in front of the ozone machine (on the outlet end where the ozone exits the machine) you can help pull more oxygen through the machine and distribute it towards the center of the treatment area. By pulling more oxygen through the machine you will create more ozone thus turbocharging your treatment. The booster fan has cloth blades that minimize any ozone disintegration. It can also be angled upwards to help encourage the ozone to move higher in the treatment space. Place the booster fan as close as possible to the machine for best results. CARRY CASE The carry case is a standard 19” toolbox and is sold separately (not included with each machine). Each MaxBlaster does come with a fitted 16” carboard box and anti-static bag. The cardboard box fits snugly inside the toolbox to create ideal storage conditions. The carry cases sold on our website are manufactured by various brands. We reserve the right to change brands based on availability, style, and current market price. HOURLY TIMER The hourly timer makes it easy to program your MaxBlaster to turn off after a set number of hours. For example, you can program your machine to turn off after 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. To use the timer, make sure your MaxBlaster switch is in the on position, plug it into the timer, then plug the timer into the wall. We do not build timers into our machines for strategic reasons that include allowing flexibility for different types of timers (see Program Timer below) and the reduction in potential service issues inside the machine. The hourly timers sold on our website are manufactured by various brands. We reserve the right to change brands based on availability, style, and current market price. DAILY TIMER The program (pin-style) timer allows you to set your MaxBlaster to turn on/off on a cycle that repeats every 24 hours. Each pin on the timer represents 15 minutes with a total of 96 pins that can be set on or off throughout a 24-hour period. It is ideal for applications where you might want to set your machine to turn on for a certain period of the day, then repeat every day thereafter. For example, you can set your MaxBlaster to turn on for 4 hours a day, from noon until 4pm, and repeat every day over the course of a weekend to complete multiple treatments in the same property. Note: it is not recommended to run the MaxBlaster unsupervised on a permanent basis. Doing so many cause adverse results. See section (D) Safety Precautions for more information. OZONE MONITOR The ozone monitor is a device that will allow you to measure the ozone concentration levels in an indoor area. It will tell you whether the ozone levels are above or below the EPA’s safe breathing level. It is very simple to use with lights indicating when the levels are safe (green), borderline (yellow), or unsafe (red). The monitor is most often used in commercial applications by those who perform ozone treatments in areas that are occupied by customers, employees, tenants, and guests. It is also beneficial for personal users who wish to avoid risk at all costs. The ozone monitor sold in our store is manufactured by the EcoSensors company as model number EZ-1X. Detailed instructions including service, calibration, and warranty information are provided by EcoSensors and included with your order. (D) SAFETY PRECAUTIONS We are very proud to have sold our machines worldwide for over ten years with zero reported instances of injury to people or pets. In our opinion, it almost takes a purposeful effort or reckless effort to expose yourself to serious risk. In a handful of cases where our machines were run for much longer than recommended, we have heard reports of wire coatings that became sticky, and rubber that became brittle. In one instance, a user who reportedly operated their machine 4-5 hours every day for two years in a small basement claimed that corrosion (rust) developed on furniture grommets. With that said, please use extreme caution and care when using our machines. Ultimately it is your responsibility and liability to make sure all people and pets are safe when using our machines. Follow our guidelines for safe results. FOR UNOCCUPIED SPACES ONLY Although ozone is not poisonous, and will not cause any diseases, breathing too much ozone can irritate your lungs, eyes, throat, and can cause discomfort to your respiratory system. Long term exposure may cause more serious problems. In the short term, if you feel you may have been exposed to too much ozone, vacate the treatment area and get to an area with fresh air. If you will be operating your ozone machine in an area where other people may be present, take measures to ensure that they will not be exposed to too much ozone. To avoid all risk, use the ozone monitor in section (C) Accessory Equipment. FOR ORGANIC ODORS ONLY Our machines are intended to be used on organic odors only. Ozone has the capacity to neutralize volatile organic compounds and may react adversely when exposed to non-organic, chemical-based odors. See the recommendations in section (G1) Ozone for Odors. If you are unsure, it is recommended to limit your initial treatment to 25% of the estimated time (see addendum: Run Time Chart). After allowing the ozone to return to normal air, inspect the results before continuing with further treatments. If you allow your MaxBlaster to run for an extended period in an area with non-organic odors the ozone may react in unpredictable ways. It may result in a new odor being developed that might be equally challenging and time consuming to eliminate. For best results, follow the recommendations in section (G1) and contact us prior to using your machine on non-organic odors. CAN BE CORROSIVE While it is virtually impossible for your MaxBlaster to cause corrosion to materials when used in accordance with this guide, prolonged exposure and/or misuse may result in risk to certain materials. For example, prolonged exposure at very high levels of ozone may break down rubber, nylon, and zinc. Do not operate your MaxBlaster on a continuous basis without inspecting the items within the treatment after each use. If you notice any items becoming sticky, brittle, or showing signs of corrosion discontinue use. Contact us for a comprehensive list of ozone compatible materials. CAUTION WHEN DIRTY AND GRIMY While it is virtually impossible for your MaxBlaster to heat up to dangerous levels when used in accordance with this guide, prolonged use when the internal components are extremely grimy may pose risk. In extreme cases where the inside of the machine develops thick levels of grime, the shell of the machine may become vulnerable to heating up and melting. Or it may result in the ozone reacting with the grime and creating new, unintended odors. This warning is not meant to scare the average user. It is intended for commercial users who operate our machines in harsh conditions on a high frequency basis. Follow the steps in section (B1) Inspect Machine Prior to Each Use. If your machine shows signs of grime building up inside near the plates, discontinue use and follow the steps in section (F) Service & Maintenance. HIGH-VOLTAGE ELECTRIC DEVICE The MaxBlaster is a high-voltage electric device and should handled accordingly. Do not allow those unfamiliar with its intended use to operate the machine. Do not allow children to have access to the machine. Do not allow pets to accidentally get too close to the machine while it is being operated. Do not place the machine on carpet during the treatment. Do not allow debris to enter the machine while it is in use. Place the machine in a safe, sturdy location. (E) PROPER STORAGE MaxBlasters are designed for long term use over an unlimited number of treatments in a wide range of applications. However, the lifespan of each machine may vary depending on how well you follow the instructions in this guide. To prolong the life of your machine, follow these guidelines for proper storage. STORAGE BOX & BAG Each MaxBlaster is shipped to you inside of a shipping box that contains an inner fitted cardboard box and anti-static bag. The outside shipping box can be discarded after arrival. The inner fitted cardboard box and anti-static bag should be kept for storage in between uses. After each use, wrap your machine back into the anti-static bag and place it inside the fitted cardboard box. For extra protection, you may choose to place the fitted box into any standard 19” toolbox. See section (C) Accessory Equipment for more information on our carry cases. IDEAL STORAGE CONDITIONS Avoid storing your machine in an area with severe temperature and humidity fluctuations. The ideal storage location would be indoors in an area with temperatures between 60-75 degrees with humidity below 50 percent. Instead of an outdoor garage, it is recommended to store your machine in an indoor room or closet-type setting. If you will be transporting your MaxBlaster from jobsite to jobsite, make sure that the machine does not get bounced around in transit. It is important to make sure the plates inside the machine to not get jostled to harshly. Treat your machine like an expensive laptop computer and not like an industrial grade appliance. BLOW AIR THROUGH MACHINE If possible, it is recommended to blow compressed air through the machine on a regular basis. This is especially true if your MaxBlaster sits on a shelf for long periods in between use. If you have an air compressor, face it into both ends of the machine and blow air through the chamber for a few seconds. If you do not have an air compressor you may use a compressed air can (comparable to those you might use to clean off a computer keyboard). Although it is not mandatory to blow compressed air through the chamber of the machine after each us, it might help to keep the plates cleaner and last longer before needing replacement. (F) SERVICE & MAINTENANCE MaxBlaster ozone generators can be self-serviced or sent to our full-service department depending on the diagnosis and your comfortability performing minor procedures. Follow these guidelines to determine the best manner to restore your machine to optimal performance standards. IF MACHINE DOESN'T TURN ON If your machine does not turn on at all, it may be due to a small wire becoming loose or disconnected near the inlet end of the machine. There are several wires connecting the on/off switch, fuse holder, and transformer immediately inside the machine on the fan side (foam filter side). If the machine gets jostled, or if it gets accidentally dropped, one of the wires may have become disconnected. For those who feel comfortable performing self-service, you may remove the end piece, then gently slide the fan out of the machine. If you notice any of the wire connections have become disconnected, it might be obvious for you to determine where to re-attach it. For those who are not comfortable performing self-service, follow the steps below for our comprehensive service department. IF MACHINE ONLY BLOWS AIR If your machine turns on, however no ozone is being produced, it is usually an indication that the generator pack (set of plates) needs to be replaced. When the generator pack is working properly you should be able to hear a distinct buzzing sound and smell the strong scent of ozone emitting from the machine. When it is not working the sound of the machine is much quieter and you only hear a slight breeze as the fan blows air through the machine. For those who feel comfortable performing self-service, you may purchase a new generator pack and install it yourself (see below: replace your own generator pack). For those who are not comfortable performing self-service, follow the steps below for our comprehensive service department. Note: the generator packs are warrantied for one full year after your purchase. If your machine was purchased in the last year contact us for warranty replacement. IF MACHINE APPEARS GRIMY If your machine shows signs of thick, visible grime on the inside near the plates it is recommended to discontinue use and contact us for comprehensive repair or replacement (see trade-in credit below). In extreme cases where grime becomes thick it may pose risk of heating up and melting the external shell. The cause for grime building up inside the machine is usually the result of prolonged use (multiple years) in harsh environments containing cigarette smoke resin, cannabis tar, cat urine, or carpet cleaning chemicals. To determine if your machine is grimy near the plates, look in the outlet end (side without the filter) and inspect the inside walls of the shell of the machine. If you notice thick, visible layers of grime contact us for service. Note: to avoid the build-up of grime in your machine always try to place your machine in a manner that it can breathe clean fresh air while in use. DAMAGE TO AN EXTERNAL PART If your machine has a broken fuse holder, handle, or cord contact us for service. In some cases, we can simply send you a replacement part. If the damage is not fixable by us sending you the part, you can ship us your machine for comprehensive service. See the instructions below for comprehensive service. SELF-SERVICE OPTIONS If it is determined that your machine needs a new generator pack (set of plates) and you are comfortable doing some minor wiring, you can purchase a replacement generator pack in our online store and install it yourself. Each model of our machine (RES, PRO, PRO-G) has its own generator pack. The instructions for installation are the same for each model. To replace the generator pack remove the end piece on the outlet end of the machine (side without the filter). Detach the two screws that hold the generator pack in place. Remove the generator pack from the machine then detach the two wire nuts that connect it to the transformer. Install the new generator pack in the reverse order that you removed the original. If you are not comfortable replacing your own generator pack follow the steps below for our comprehensive service department. FULL SERVICE DEPARTMENT If your machine needs service that you are uncomfortable performing yourself, you can send it to our comprehensive service department. The most common need for service is replacing the generator pack. Follow the steps below (request a service form) to begin the comprehensive service process. REQUEST A SERVICE FORM In order to initiate the comprehensive service process, please email maxblaster@outlook.com . Include the name on the original order, your service request, and your return shipping address. We will reply with a service form in PDF format. Follow the instructions on the service form and include the form inside the box you use to ship us your machine. SHIP YOUR MACHINE FOR SERVICE After you receive the service form, package your machine in any box and ship it to the address on the form. Be sure to include a copy of the service form inside the box. You may use any type of shipping service including UPS, FedEx, USPS, or DHL. Remember to include a copy of the service form inside the box. If you wish to speed up the process email us the tracking number once you ship us your machine. We will contact you after receiving your machine and reviewing your service form. TRADE-IN CREDIT FOR NEW MACHINE We offer a lifetime trade-in credit for those who would rather purchase a brand-new MaxBlaster instead of servicing their old machine. Our trade-in program is ideal for customers who use their machines in harsh environments and/or on a frequent basis. It is often more efficient to build you a new machine rather than repairing an old one and therefore we make the pricing affordable to trade your machine. For more information contact us for pricing. (G) RECOMMENDATIONS The following recommendations provide a general overview of some of the most common applications for our machines. For more information visit our website and find the “guide” page or contact us for advice. We provide free consultation and friendly advice for any type of ozone related application. (G1) PROPERTY ODORS Property owners, investors, managers, and realtors are among the most common users of our machines. Ozone has a proven ability to eliminate common odors including smoke odor, pet odor, musty basement odor, mold scent, cooking odor, and other organic-based odors. Follow the operation instructions in this guide for best results. Product Recommendation: for most property applications, we recommend our MaxBlaster PRO Edition. The PRO Edition combines commercial strength ozone with a long-term lifespan. For those looking to speed up the treatment times and treat entire homes with professional grade ozone we recommend taking advantage of our quantity discounts. For example, a three-pack of MaxBlaster PRO Edition machines make an excellent choice for fast treatments in the average size home (1500sqft). For more advice visit the “guide” page of our website and/or contact us for a free evaluation of your specific property and project goals. (G2) AUTO DETAILING Given that the treatment area size is small compared to a house, it is easy to reach high concentrations of ozone quickly inside of a car and thus, easy to eliminate organic odors including cigarette smoke and musty scent. This makes our machines preferred by professional auto detailers who use our machines every day in commercial applications. Here’s what we recommend: for car treatments use the basic hose accessory to allow the machine to remain outside the vehicle. This helps keep your machine cleaner over the lifespan of the machine as less dirty enters the machine over time. Roll down the window 4”. Place the machine as close to and as level to the window as possible Place the basic hose accessory on the outlet end of the machine then direct the hose into the window. Place a towel over the rest of the open window (it does not have to be 100% airtight). Make sure the carpets and upholstery are completely dry prior to applying the ozone. Keep the glove box, visors, and center console open and exposed to the ozone. Run your machine so that the ozone blows through the hose and into the window. For average odors it may only take 1-2 hours of treatment to eliminate the odors. For tougher odors it may require 3-6 hours of treatment. For extreme odors, it may require multiple treatments. Keep the air conditioner off during most of the ozone application. This allows the ozone to build up in the car and reach higher concentrations. After allowing the ozone to build up to high levels inside the cabin of the car, you may want to turn on the air conditioner to allow ozone to blow through the vents for a short period. On average you may want to keep the air conditioner off for 75% of the overall treatment and then allow the air conditioner to run for the remaining 25% of the treatment. Product recommendation: If you are treating your own vehicle and not necessarily concerned with having the ability to treat many cars over time, the Residential Edition MaxBlaster is an ideal choice. If you are a professional auto detailer the PRO Edition MaxBlaster and Pro Hose Accessory is an ideal choice. Other Notes: It is not mandatory to use the hose accessory. Using the hose is intended to prolong the life of the plates inside the machine. However, if you run the machine inside the car the short-term odor removal results will be nearly the same with or without the hose. (G3) MOLD & MYCOTOXINS Mold is an extremely serious issue that should not be taken lightly. Although mold applications make up a large percentage of our business, we must stress that ozone is often only one part of the overall mold remediation process. We do not guarantee that you will be able to kill all the mold in your property by running one of our machines for a treatment or two. In fact, for proper mold remediation we recommend you consult with a professional prior to using our machines. With that said, the following recommendations should be considered our opinions and not professional guidance. Ozone does not take the place of other mold remediation efforts. In order to properly kill mold, you must first stop the source of the moisture/mold problem. This may require significant work to the foundation of your property. If there is existing mold growing on walls you must remove it prior to using ozone. Ozone will not automatically make mold disappear. After stopping the source of moisture/mold the property should be dried out and prepared for the ozone application process. Dehumidifiers can greatly benefit the overall process in many mold related applications. Running an ozone machine, even for several hours and multiple treatments, is not guaranteed to kill all the mold. Ozone is most effective at stopping the remaining mold spores in the air after proper mold remediation efforts are complete. Ozone may be used to control the symptoms of mold. Many of those who seek to use ozone for mold are unable to stop the source of the mold itself. For various reasons, they are unable to perform the full-scale mold remediation process. This does not mean that ozone cannot be used in a beneficial manner. In the event you cannot complete all the steps of a professional mold remediation process, you can still use ozone on a periodic basis to at least minimize or control the symptoms. For example, you can use your ozone machine(s) to get the air in your property to a clean level, then perform routine “maintenance” treatments to keep the symptoms of mold under control. For more information see section (B7) Refresh Treatments and/or contact us for advice. Ozone may benefit those with hypersensitivities to mycotoxins. Many of our customers suffer from unique sensitivities to mold that result in a wide range of physical reactions when they are exposed to even slight amounts of mold. Not all people respond to mold the same. For example, a husband may suffer from extreme reactions when exposed to mold in a home while the wife experience little to none of the same reactions. This variance is enough to cause serious personal and familial challenges. From our experience, ozone can be used in a beneficial manner to control and/or eliminate the reactions experienced by those who are sensitive to mold. For best results, follow the operation instructions explained in this guide as closely as possible. Be sure to follow the steps described for performing refresh (short) treatments on a continual basis. Contact us for further advice and guidance. Product recommendation: Given the serious nature of mold we recommend taking the approach of over-doing it instead of trying to find the least expensive way to manage or control a mold problem. For most applications related to mold, we recommend our PRO-G Edition MaxBlaster. For professional strength applications and/or for those who want the ability to control mold in an entire home on a continual basis we recommend taking advantage of our quantity discounts. For example, a three-pack of MaxBlaster PRO-G Edition machines is an ideal choice for those seeking to control mold on a continuous basis in an average sized home (1500-2000sqft). (G4) HOTEL & GUEST ROOMS Hotel, motel, and guest room treatments are among the easier and most successful types of treatments for our machines. The reason the treatments are relatively easy is because of the smaller treatment area size (compared to a whole house) and the relatively “newness” of the odors. Odors that have been saturated over many years are much harder to eliminate than odors acquired over a couple of days that a guest occupied a hotel room. You should expect very good results by following the operation instructions of this guide. Product recommendation: our MaxBlaster PRO Edition is the ideal choice for most hotel owners and operators. It combines commercial strength ozone with a long-term lifespan. The only accessory that you might need is an hourly timer. Most light odors can be eliminated in 1-2 hours of treatment. Moderate odors may take 3-4 hours. Hotel rooms with heavy, saturated odors may require 5-8 hours or treatment and/or multiple treatments. (G5) MUSTY BASEMENTS Musty basements are among the most common and easily treatable odors for our machines. Musty odors are very organic, and you should expect great results if you follow our guidelines. First, it is highly beneficial to make sure the basement is as dry as possible. The lower the humidity, the more potent the ozone will perform and less likely the odors will return. Use a dehumidifier to lower the moisture/humidity level prior to using the ozone machine. It may be beneficial to keep the dehumidifier running 24/7/365 after you complete the ozone treatment. For basements that have a constant moisture problem and/or a continuous water damage issue, it is recommended to perform refresh (short) treatments on a periodic basis after you’ve completed the original high-intensity ozone treatment. One suggestion is to use a program timer (see accessories) and set your MaxBlaster to run for a short period (example: 30 minutes) each day after you complete the initial high-intensity ozone treatment. The idea is to get the basement to a clean level and then maintain those levels by performing continuous refresh treatments. Follow the instructions in this guide for best results and contact us for advice. Product recommendation: for most musty basement applications our MaxBlaster PRO Edition is the ideal choice. It combines commercial strength ozone with a long-term lifespan and can be operated in harsher conditions than the average ozone machine. A dehumidifier is recommended for most musty basement applications. If you have a constant odor/moisture issue, use the program timer accessory to set your MaxBlaster to perform scheduled refresh (short) treatments on a continuous basis going forward. Make sure to inspect the conditions of your basement on a regular basis if you intend on operating your machine on a daily/weekly basis without supervision. (G6) BOAT & MARINE ODOR Boat and marine odors are very organic and treatable with proper use of our ozone machines. Given that the cabin size of a boat is relatively small compared to a whole house, you can expect successful results without a ton of effort. Follow the operation instructions in this guide for best results. Product recommendations: If you are treating your own small boat and not concerned about the speed of the treatment, our Residential MaxBlaster is an ideal choice. If you are performing commercial treatments for a marina or business, our PRO Edition MaxBlaster is an ideal choice. Follow the run time chart for estimated treatment times. If you are planning on treating the bilge area of the boat, the hose accessory is recommended in order to allow the machine to remain outside of the bilge compartment where it can breathe fresh air during the treatment. Use the hose to blow ozone into the bilge area rather than running your machine from inside an area filled with musty, damp, dirty air. Cover any opening in the hatch with a towel. It does not have to be 100% airtight. (G7) APPAREL & ITEMS Treating apparel and individual items with ozone is more common than most people realize. However, given the uniqueness of the treatment, it requires special set-up instructions. In order to treat individual items and clothes, they must be placed into a small treatment area such as a closet, room, or a box that is big enough to contain all the items. A good suggestion is a portable closet that you can buy at any home improvement store for about twenty-five dollars. If you fill the space with high concentrations of ozone, you can treat all the items within the space. The smaller the treatment area the easier and faster it is to reach high concentrations of ozone. All the surface areas of the items must be open and exposed. The items cannot be stacked on top of each other within the treatment area. Clothes must be hung up and spaced out. Books must be placed on their back and fanned out. Ozone will not penetrate through solid matter so you must set up the items accordingly. The items cannot be wet or damp. Make sure all items are dry and free of moisture for best results. When choosing your treatment area, remember that it is best for the machine to avoid breathing dirty air. Use the hose accessory to allow the machine to remain outside the treatment and push the ozone into the treatment area for best results. Treating clothes and individual items is relatively simple, yet complex enough that it is difficult to explain in written format. Contact us for advice prior to attempting to treat individual items with our machines. Product recommendations: if you are only treating a handful of items within a very small treatment area, our Residential Edition is an ideal choice. If you are treating a higher volume of items or are interested in commercial strength (faster) treatments, our MaxBlaster PRO Edition is recommended. The basic hose is required in order to allow the machine to remain outside the treatment area. If you are intending on blowing ozone directly into the fabric of clothing the target hose accessory and respirator mask are required. For advice on how to use the target hose please contact us. (G8) CIGARETTE ODOR One of the most common uses for our ozone machines is removing cigarette odors in homes and vehicles. If cigarette odors have been saturated over many years, it can be tough to eliminate them in one treatment. However, with proper use of our machines you can expect very positive results. Follow the operation instructions in this guide for best results and perform multiple treatments if necessary. Special notes: limit the treatment area size by dividing the house into multiple sections. Treat the house room-by-room which will allow you to reach higher ozone concentrations. For commercial users who may be treating cigarette smoke on a frequent basis, it is advised to set the machine up in a manner that allows it to breathe clean air during the application. If the machine breathes cigarette odors on a regular basis it may eventually add residue and grime to the plates and thus speed up the rate at which they may need to be replaced. See section (B3) Place Machine into Position for more information. Product recommendations: cigarette odors are among the tougher odors to eliminate in one treatment. Therefore, it is recommended to use as much ozone power as possible. For homeowners looking to treat a single property, the MaxBlaster PRO or PRO-G Edition is an ideal choice. For commercial cleaners who wish to speed up the treatment process, it is recommended to consider a three-pack of either our PRO or PRO-G Edition machines. (G9) CARPET CLEANING Carpet cleaners are among the most common types of commercial users of our ozone machines. However, there is a special instruction for carpet cleaners that can save hassle over the long term. Read below for more information and follow the operation instructions in this guide carefully for best results. Special instructions: over the years we’ve sold hundreds (if not thousands) of our machines to carpet cleaners. And we’ve noticed an interesting trend among them. They seem to need service more frequently than other users. And when carpet cleaners send us their machines for service often their machines are extremely grimy and filled with residue near the plates. The cause? It is our belief that most carpet cleaners use their machines immediately after performing their standard carpet washing. They place their machines in the center of the room and allow the machines to breathe damp, soapy, chemical filled air. This leads to a unique reaction that causes the plates to get corroded and grimy. Remember, for best results, set your machine up in a manner that it can breathe clean air. And if possible, make sure the carpets are completely dry when applying the ozone. See section (B3) Place Machine into Position for more information and/or contact us for advice prior to using our machines for carpet cleaning. Product recommendations: for professional carpet cleaning our PRO Edition MaxBlaster is the ideal choice. It combines commercial strength ozone with long term lifespan. For those seeking to speed up treatment times and offer professional grade services, a three-pack of MaxBlaster PRO Editions is the ideal choice. If you choose to go with our strongest machine, the PRO-G Edition, it is especially important to make sure to use and store it properly when applying it to carpet cleaning applications. (G10) DOG & CAT ODOR Dog and cat odors, specifically urine odors, are very common uses for our machines. However, there is a distinct difference between dog and cat odors that make one relatively easy to solve, and the other among the most difficult. Dog odors are very organic and considered average in terms of difficulty. On the other hand, cat urine odors have a unique enzyme which makes them especially troublesome. If you are using our machines against dog odors, follow the operation instructions for best results. If you are using our machine for cat urine, it is recommended to use an enzyme cleaner prior to applying the ozone. After treating the cat urine areas with an enzyme cleaner (example: floors, carpets) make sure the floors are completely dry. It is recommended to treat the odors on an individual room basis in order to allow the ozone to reach the highest concentrations. Follow the run time chart and consider dog odors as an average to moderate degree odor. Consider cat urine odors among the toxic odors and perform multiple treatments if necessary. Product recommendations: For dog odors, we recommend our MaxBlaster PRO Edition. For cat urine odors we recommend our MaxBlaster PRO-G Edition. For cat urine odors, do not allow the machine to breathe the cat urine. Set your machine up in a manner that it can breather cleaner air. Breathing cat urine over time may result in grime developing on the plates and thus requiring service sooner than expected. For commercial business application we recommend a three-pack of either our MaxBlaster PRO or PRO-G Edition machines. Contact us for further advice on how to treat cat urine odors. (G11) ATHLETIC INDUSTRY Athletic industry odors make up a smaller percentage of our business. But given our unique history of success in a handful of athletic applications, it is worth mentioning in this guide. For many years our machines have proven successful in applications related to athletic apparel sterilization, locker room deodorization, yoga studio mold prevention, and trampoline park odor control. The key is to set the machine(s) in a manner that allows them to generate ozone in the treatment area without exposing them to the excess humidity and moisture that is often common in athletic related applications. It is also imperative to establish a treatment protocol that allows for high ozone concentrations during unoccupied periods, with enough airing out time to allow for safe breathing levels before occupants return to the space. Given the unique and challenging elements involved in these applications it is recommended to contact us for advice prior to using our machines in athletic spaces. (G12) CANNABIS INDUSTRY One of the newest, and fastest growing industries to use our ozone machines is the cannabis industry. There are three main goals that cannabis companies seek when using our machines: killing odors that are escaping their warehouse, sterilizing their grow rooms in between grow cycles, and establishing an equilibrium point of moderate ozone that prevents mold and mites without effecting the growth of the plants. Due to the unique and challenging elements involved in these applications it is recommended to contact us for advice prior to using our machines in the cannabis industry. (H) DISCLAIMER The information contained in this guide was prepared based on our real-world experience helping users eliminate odors with our machines. It was created with the intention of sharing everything we’ve learned about how to use our machines in an honest, easy-to-understand manner. With that said, we encourage you to conduct your own independent research and understand the statements in this guide are our opinions and not guaranteed to be scientifically accurate. USE ONLY IN UNOCCUPIED SPACES Our machines produce much higher concentrations of ozone than what are considered safe to breathe and should only be operated in unoccupied spaces. In our opinion short term exposure to ozone is not extremely risky. However, you should avoid remaining in the area for more than a few minutes while a treatment is taking place. Follow the estimated run times and make sure to allow enough time to air-out the treatment space prior to allowing occupants to return. NON-MEDICAL DEVICE We do not claim to cure or prevent any medical conditions with the use of our machines. If you are using our machines to improve or protect against any health conditions, please understand that it is by your choice and not our direction. For medical recommendations please consult a qualified professional prior to using our machines. NO MOLD GUARANTEES While ozone may be one part of the process, it does not take the place of other methods used in a professional mold remediation protocol. To kill mold permanently there are often other steps that must be taken in addition to applying the ozone. We do not guarantee that by using our machines you will be able to kill all the mold in your property or vehicle. And we are not certified mold remediation experts. For best results, please consult with a qualified professional prior to using our machines against mold. NON-SCIENTIFIC ESTIMATES The ratings for our machines, including the ozone output ratings, are based on comparisons versus other similar ozone machines being sold online including those using components from China. The ratings are estimates and should not be considered scientifically accurate. We recommend that if you need scientifically accurate ratings to conduct your own independent testing prior to using our machines. (I) FOR MORE INFORMATION It is our goal for you to experience the highest level of success with our machines both in the short term and over the entire lifespan of your machine. • Basement Crawl Space Ozone Treatments

Ozone Generators for Basements and Crawl Spaces: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Make Dingy Spaces Fresh Again. < Back Basement Crawl Space Ozone Treatments Ozone Generators for Basements and Crawl Spaces: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used to Make Dingy Spaces Fresh Again. Background Since 2008 we've helped thousands of home and business owners successfully use our MaxBlaster ozone generators to deodorize and disinfect basements and crawl spaces. This is one of the most common applications for our ozone machines. Whether you are an individual looking to treat your own property, or you are a business owner providing professional cleaning services, we can show you exactly how to perform ozone treatments like an expert. Contact us for custom recommendations based on your specific project needs. Introduction Basements and crawl spaces are among the most common ozone treatments. These areas are often prone to dampness, mold growth, and musty odors, which can impact indoor air quality of any home or business. While traditional methods like ventilation and dehumidification can help to some extent, ozone generators are a proven solution for proactively eliminating odors, mold, and other contaminants in these spaces. In this article, we will explore ozone generators, their benefits, considerations, and their role in improving air quality in basements and crawl spaces. Understanding Ozone Generators MaxBlaster ozone generators produce ozone (O3) gas, a highly reactive form of oxygen. Ozone has powerful oxidizing properties, which make it effective in neutralizing and eliminating a wide range of airborne pollutants, including bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew, and odors. Ozone molecules work by breaking down and destroying these pollutants at a molecular level, leaving behind clean, fresh air. No chemicals or harsh residue. Benefits of Ozone Generators in Basements and Crawl Spaces Odor Elimination: Basements and crawl spaces are often plagued by musty and unpleasant odors caused by mold, mildew, and stagnant air. MaxBlaster ozone generators can effectively neutralize these odors by oxidizing and eliminating the organic compounds responsible for the smell, leaving behind a fresh and clean environment. Mold and Mildew Control: High humidity levels in basements and crawl spaces create an ideal breeding ground for mold and mildew. MaxBlaster ozone generators can help control and prevent mold growth by destroying mold spores and inhibiting their reproduction. However, it is important to address the underlying moisture issue to fully resolve mold problems. Improved Air Quality: By eliminating pollutants and contaminants, MaxBlaster ozone generators significantly improve indoor air quality in basements and crawl spaces. This can have a positive impact on the overall health and well-being of the occupants. Considerations When Using Ozone Generators While ozone generators offer several benefits, it is important to consider the following factors: Ozone Safety: Ozone generators should be used with caution as excessive exposure to ozone can be harmful. It is important to follow our guidelines. Occupants should vacate the area being treated and allow sufficient time for ozone levels to dissipate before reentering. Stop the Source: Before using an ozone generator, it is advisable to address any underlying moisture issues, leaks, or ventilation problems that will help achieve better long-term results. Treatment Tips We encourage you to consider the following tips & recommendations for athletic apparel sterilization: Dehumidifier: Humidity and moisture is the ozone killer. Not only does high humidity/moisture reduce the potency of the ozone treatment, it can have negative impacts on the machine itself. We recommend using a dehumidifier prior to running the ozone machine if the property is higher in humidity/moisture. The lower the humidity, the stronger the ozone will perform. Machine Placement: Do not run the ozone machine on the floor. Place the machine higher in the room if possible. For basements, make sure the machine is placed at least at a table top level. Ozone is heavier than oxygen so it tends to go downwards. You may place fans in the basement to help move the ozone around and encourage it to go upwards. For crawl spaces, place the ozone machine near the entry way or a window that is open a couple of inches. Ideally, you want the ozone machine to be breathing the cleanest, driest air to convert into ozone. Vapor barrier: Crawl spaces with dirt or porous floors may be difficult to treat with ozone. The goal is to allow the ozone to reach the highest possible concentrations. If the floor is porous, the ozone may get diluted as it seeps into the ground. Use a vapor barrier to help trap the ozone in the crawl space and reach the highest possible concentrations. Run Times: The length of time to run the ozone machine depends on odor degree, property size, strength of ozone machine, and the number of ozone machines being used. Follow the MaxBlaster Run Time Chart (included with purchase or download on the INFO page of our website) for a good idea of how long to treat your space. Recommendations For the average homeowner treating their own property, we recommend our PRO Edition machine as it is the best overall combination of strength and durability. Professional companies may want to consider using multiple machines to speed up the treatments and allow the ozone to spread more evenly across larger spaces. Our strongest machine, the PRO-G Edition, is better for those experienced with operating and maintaining high-performance equipment. Summary MaxBlaster ozone generators offer an effective solution for improving air quality in basements and crawl spaces. By eliminating odors, controlling mold and mildew, reducing allergens, and enhancing overall air quality, our ozone machines contribute to a healthier indoor environment. However, it is essential to use ozone generators responsibly, following safety guidelines, and addressing underlying moisture issues for optimal results. When used correctly and in conjunction with other maintenance practices, ozone generators can provide a fresh and clean environment in basements and crawl spaces, enhancing the comfort and well-being of homeowners. • Apparel Sterilization Ozone Treatments

Ozone Generators for Apparel Sterilization: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used for Athletic Gear Disinfection < Back Apparel Sterilization Ozone Treatments Ozone Generators for Apparel Sterilization: How MaxBlaster Ozone Machines are Used for Athletic Gear Disinfection Background: Since 2009 we've helped hundreds of people and businesses successfully deodorize and disinfect apparel with our MaxBlaster ozone generators. Whether you are needing to disinfect an entire teams worth of gear, create a mobile sterilization system, or just deodorize a single item of your own clothes, we can show you how to do the ozone treatment process like an expert. A large part of our experience comes from dealing with a hockey apparel sterlization company in Canada called Fresh Gear. Fresh Gear invented the Cyclone sanitation machine to disinfect hockey gear on a commerical level. Our MaxBlaster ozone machines were originally used as the ozone generation device within the Cyclone machine. Today we continue to service and supply products to many of the Cyclone owners, as well as support other apparel sterilization companies throughout Canada and the USA. Introduction: Because sweaty athletic gear can lead to MRSA infection, finding effective methods to sterilize apparel is a top priority for many sports players, parents, coaches, and companies. MaxBlaster ozone generators are a proven solution, particularly for hockey gear. Ozone, a powerful oxidizing agent, can eliminate bacteria, viruses, and foul odors. In this article, we will explore the benefits and recommendations of using our ozone generators for apparel sterilization and how they can revolutionize the way you maintain your personal gear and/or treat athletic gear in your commercial business. The Power of Ozone: Ozone (O3) is a naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. It is a highly reactive molecule that acts as a potent disinfectant and deodorizer. Ozone works by breaking down organic compounds, destroying bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms that may reside on the surfaces of clothing. Apparel Sterilization with Ozone Generators: Ozone generators are devices that produce ozone gas and release it into a confined space, such as a sterilization chamber or sealed bag. The ozone molecules saturate the fabric and eliminate harmful pathogens, leaving the clothing sanitized and fresh. The process has several advantages: Microorganism Elimination: Ozone kills a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses. It can reach even the tiniest crevices or fibers that harbor pathogens, ensuring thorough sterilization. Odor Neutralization: Ozone not only eliminates harmful microorganisms but also neutralizes unpleasant odors caused by sweat, smoke, or other sources. By breaking down odor-causing compounds, ozone leaves clothes smelling fresh and clean. Chemical-Free and Eco-Friendly: Ozone is a natural and chemical-free sterilization method. Unlike traditional disinfectants that may leave residue or require rinsing, ozone converts back to oxygen after use, leaving no harmful by-products. This eco-friendly aspect makes it a preferred choice for those seeking sustainable sterilization methods. Apparel Sterilization Systems: It is not very difficult or costly to replicate the same set-up and get the same (or better) results as the super expensive sterilization systems. You can create your own custom set-up that matches your needs and budget. The key components are a professional ozone generator and a chamber (container, closet, tent) to house the apparel. You also need some accurate advice about where to place the machine, how to position the apparel, the amount of caution required, how long to run the ozone machine, and how to air it out. Contact us for custom advice on how to build an apparel sterilization system to match your needs (and budget). Considerations and Safety Measures: While ozone generators offer numerous benefits for apparel sterilization, it is important to consider certain factors: Ozone Concentration Control: Ozone concentration should reach extremely high “shock” levels during the sterilization process. However, high ozone levels can be harmful to humans and may damage certain materials. It is important to follow our run-time chart and instruction guidelines to ensure proper exposure times and prevent fabric deterioration. Contact us for more information prior to treating apparel with our ozone generators. Ventilation: Ozone gas can be hazardous when inhaled directly. Adequate ventilation is crucial during the ozone sterilization process to prevent ozone accumulation in the room. It is advisable to use ozone generators in a well-ventilated area or inside a specially designed sterilization chamber. Material Compatibility: While ozone is generally safe for most fabrics, some delicate materials (example: true rubber) may be susceptible to damage when exposed to high ozone concentrations for extended periods. It is recommended to test ozone compatibility on a small scale before full-scale sterilization. User Safety: Ozone generators should be used with caution. Follow our owners guidelines diligently. Users should avoid direct exposure to high concentrations of ozone. The ozone machine should be placed in a sturdy location in a manner that no foreign objects, debris, and dust can enter the machine. Tips & Recommendations: We encourage you to consider the following tips & recommendations for athletic apparel sterilization: Feed the machine clean, dry air: The ozone machine should be set up in a manner that it can breathe clean, dry air. If possible, do not place the ozone machine directly into the chamber where the clothes are located. Instead, place the machine outside the treatment area and funnel the ozone into the chamber via a hose. Feeding the machine cleaner, drier air will help prolong the lifespan of the internal components and lessen the frequency of servicing the ozone machine. Do not stack the apparel: All surface areas of the apparel you wish to treat should be open and exposed. Do not stack the apparel on top of each other. Ozone will not penetrate through solid matter. For best results, have the apparel neatly hung in a manner that ozone gas can reach all surface areas in and out. No wet, damp apparel: It is imperative that the apparel be completely dry prior to applying the ozone treatment. Humidity is the ozone killer. Not only will the results be negated, but humidity can lead to short term lifespan of the components (plate pack, primarily). Recommendations: We recommend our PRO Edition MaxBlaster Ozone Generator for most apparel sterilization projects. Not only does the PRO Edition produce more than enough ozone concentration to treat chambers, but it is also the best overall balance in terms of speed & longevity. We also suggest using the hose adapter to allow the machine to remain outside the treatment area. For commercial companies that do not wish to deal with any down time should the machine need service, we recommend purchasing a spare generator (plate) pack to keep on hand for self-service. See below for product links. Summary: MaxBlaster ozone generators provide an innovative and effective solution for apparel sterilization. With their ability to eliminate microorganisms and neutralize odors without the use of chemicals, MaxBlaster ozone generators offer a proven method to deodorize and disinfect athletic apparel. However, some basic guidelines must be followed. Contact us for expert tips and recommendations on how to get the best results when treating apparel with ozone machines. Thank you!
