  • About MaxBlaster | Trusted Ozone Generator Experts Since 2008

Learn about MaxBlaster’s mission, expertise, and commitment to quality. Since 2008, we’ve provided powerful ozone generators for professionals worldwide. About MaxBlaster MaxBlaster started in Ohio in 2006 with one goal: build ozone generators with maximum output, top-tier components, and no extra features or gimmicks. THE ORIGINAL OZONE BLASTER COMPANY MaxBlaster started in Avon Lake, Ohio when Tom (dad) set out to build a better ozone machine — stronger, simpler, and built to last. Greg (son) joined in 2008 to take it online and grow the brand. What began as one machine has grown into tens of thousands sold. In 2017, Bob and Kristie partnered to expand production, improve consistency, and speed up shipping. Today, MaxBlasters are used across homes, vehicles, and large-scale properties nationwide. The approach hasn’t changed: build it right, keep it simple, and focus on real performance. The term “ozone blaster” is now widely copied — but this is where it started. SPEAK WITH THE OWNERS When you contact us, you’re speaking directly with Greg, Bob, or Kristie. We still do things the old-school way — answer the phone, respond quickly, and handle things the right way. No scripts. No runaround. Just real answers based on years of hands-on experience. Ozone doesn’t need to be complicated — we’ll help you understand what matters, what doesn’t, and how to get it right. SPECIAL THANKS We’re grateful to the Lord for guiding us through everything. We’d like to recognize the people who have contributed to MaxBlaster over the years. Some continue to work with us today, others have moved on — but all played a role in building what this company is today, and that’s something we respect. Joanne, Andrew, Ed, Gary, Alex, Mike W, Randy, Eric, Bud, Debbie, Prateek, Manish, Randy, Martin, Jeff, and Kathy. We’re still here, still answering the phone, and still building machines the right way.

  • Compare MaxBlaster Ozone Generators | Models & Competitor Comparison

Compare MaxBlaster ozone generator models and see how we stack up against other brands. Find the best machine for your needs with our detailed guide. Ozone Generator Comparisons Choosing the right ozone generator can be confusing. Many machines on the market look similar on the outside but perform very differently in real-world treatments. This page explains the key differences between ozone generator designs, how our machines compare to typical models on the market, and how to choose the right setup for any project. How Most Ozone Generators Are Built Most ozone generators sold online use inexpensive transformer and ozone plate assemblies that can be purchased individually for under $15. These components are commonly imported and used across dozens of different brands. Manufacturers often stack several of these small assemblies inside a single machine to increase the advertised rating. The Components Behind Many Ozone Generators Ozone plates, transformers, fans, and blowers like these are widely available online overseas and often used to assemble relabeled ozone machines. These images show real product listings for components commonly used inside many ozone generators sold online today. Items like ozone plates, high-voltage transformers, fans, and blower housings can be purchased individually from overseas suppliers. Many machines are created by combining these inexpensive parts into a housing and marketing the result as a finished ozone generator. In some cases, multiple plate and transformer sets are simply mounted inside an existing fan or blower enclosure. Understanding what’s inside a machine is often the clearest way to see the difference between inexpensive ozone generators and equipment designed for serious commercial use. click images below to open in pop-up Many sellers simply combine inexpensive ozone plates and transformer assemblies with basic fans or blower housings, then market the finished product using manufacturer output claims. While this approach can produce ozone, it does not necessarily reflect the kind of component quality or craftsmanship used in professional equipment. The Components Inside a MaxBlaster Ozone Generator The performance and reliability of an ozone generator depends heavily on the quality of the components used inside the machine. At MaxBlaster, we focus on building machines with durable parts designed for real-world use rather than simply assembling inexpensive components into a box. Heavy-Duty Ozone Transformers The transformer is the heart of any ozone generator. Many machines use small imported transformer assemblies designed for inexpensive consumer devices. Our machines use larger, more robust transformers designed to deliver consistent output and long-term reliability during treatments. Commercial Ozone Plates Ozone plates determine how efficiently ozone is produced. MaxBlaster machines use 100% pure dielectric ozone plates, combined into 5-plate or 7-plate structures depending on the model. This design allows the machine to generate strong, consistent ozone output while maintaining stable performance during treatments. Airflow & Cooling Design Airflow plays an important role in ozone production and machine longevity. MaxBlaster generators are designed with dedicated fans and airflow paths that move air efficiently across the ozone plates while helping keep internal components cool. Proper airflow allows the machine to maintain stable ozone output during extended treatments. Serviceable, Long-Life Design MaxBlaster ozone generators are built with a straightforward, durable design intended for long-term professional use. The internal components are arranged for reliability, stable performance, and easy service if it is ever needed. This approach allows the machines to operate dependably for years in demanding treatment environments. Comparing Our Ozone Generator Models MaxBlaster offers three primary ozone generator models. Each model is designed for different treatment sizes and applications while maintaining the same durable construction and professional-grade components. MaxBlaster RES Residential Edition Best Ozone Blaster Under $500 10000mghr | Personal Home Use 4000V transformer | 5-plate pack 1000sqft Shock | 3000sqft Cover The RES Residential model is our most affordable machine and provides an excellent entry point into professional ozone equipment. Built with a 4000V transformer and 5-plate dielectric pack, it delivers strong performance for lighter odor treatments, individual rooms, vehicles, and small spaces. Because the machine operates at a slightly lower intensity than our larger models, it tends to require very little service over time and is a popular choice for homeowners and occasional users. MaxBlaster PRO Commercial Edition Best Ozone Blaster for Business 15000mghr | Business Workhorse 5000V transformer | 5-plate pack 1500sqft Shock | 4500sqft Cover The PRO Commercial model is the machine we recommend to most customers. Built with a 5000V transformer and 5-plate dielectric pack, it offers an ideal balance of power, durability, and long-term reliability. It is commonly used by property managers, contractors, and restoration professionals who need a dependable workhorse for regular treatments. For many customers, the PRO model provides the best combination of performance and stability. MaxBlaster PRO-G Industrial Edition Best Ozone Blaster for Experts 20000mghr | Industry Professionals 5000V transformer | 7-plate pack 2000sqft Shock | 6000sqft Cover The PRO-G Industrial model is our most powerful single-unit ozone generator. It uses a 5000V transformer paired with a larger 7-plate dielectric pack to deliver the highest ozone output in our lineup. This model is often used for heavy contamination or stationary industrial applications where maximum output is required. Because the machine operates at a higher intensity, it is typically best suited for experienced operators who are comfortable maintaining professional equipment over the long term. Why Professionals Use Multiple Ozone Generators Ozone treatment success is determined largely by ozone concentration within the treatment space. While running a single machine for a long time can produce results, ozone naturally converts back into oxygen relatively quickly. Because of this, ozone levels eventually reach a concentration plateau when using only one machine. Professional operators focus on reaching higher ozone concentrations efficiently, rather than letting one machine run for days. One of the most effective ways to increase ozone concentration is by using multiple machines within the same space. When several machines operate together, they produce more ozone per hour while also distributing the ozone more evenly throughout the property. This allows operators to reach stronger ozone levels faster. Advantages of using multiple machines: • Higher ozone concentration levels • Greater ozone distribution capacity • Faster more effective treatments • Ability to treat multiple rooms/floors • Ability to offer pro treatment service Professional Multi-Machine Setups For customers performing serious ozone treatments, many operators start with a 3-machine configuration. This allows the machines to be placed in different areas of the property, increasing ozone concentration while improving distribution throughout the space. Commercial 3-Pack Great Entry into Pro Treatments The PRO Commercial model offers the best overall balance of power, durability, and long-term reliability. For this reason, the PRO 3-Pack is the configuration we recommend to most customers beginning professional ozone treatments. Using three PRO machines together allows operators to increase ozone production while spreading the machines throughout the property for better distribution. This setup is commonly used by contractors, property managers, and service businesses who want to treat spaces of up to roughly 1,500 square feet like a professional in less than a day. Professional 3-Pack Great for High Performance Uses The PRO-G Industrial model delivers the highest ozone output in our lineup while maintaining the same durable construction and professional-grade components. For this reason, the PRO-G 3-Pack is often chosen by experienced operators who require maximum ozone production. Using three PRO-G machines together allows operators to generate extremely high ozone output while placing machines throughout the property for better distribution. This setup is commonly used for heavy contamination and industrial environments where very high ozone concentrations are required. Commercial 6-Pack Great Way to Scale-Up Business The PRO Commercial model offers the best balance of power, durability, and long-term reliability in our lineup while maintaining the same durable construction and professional-grade components. For this reason, the PRO 6-Pack is often chosen by operators who want to significantly expand their treatment capacity. Using six PRO machines together allows users to dramatically increase ozone production while placing machines throughout the property for better distribution. For many operators, this is the point where ozone stops feeling like a trial and starts looking like a real business. The Bottom Line After comparing machines, components, and treatment strategies, one principle becomes clear: successful ozone treatments depend on reaching the right ozone concentration and distributing it properly across a space. This is why professionals focus not only on the machine they use, but also on how many machines they use and where they place them during a treatment. Whether you choose a single machine or build a multi-machine setup, the goal is always the same — generate enough ozone, distribute it effectively, and achieve success. That simple principle has guided the design of MaxBlaster ozone generators since 2006.

View Ozone Application Why Ozone Generators Are Effective for Odor Removal Ozone works by neutralizing odor-causing molecules at the source rather than masking them with fragrances. When used properly in unoccupied spaces, ozone treatments can penetrate fabrics, building materials, ventilation systems, and other areas where odors often hide. Because of this, ozone generators are commonly used by restoration professionals, property managers, auto detailers, and homeowners to eliminate stubborn organic odors that traditional cleaning methods cannot fully remove. Common Odors Ozone Can Remove Ozone works by oxidizing organic odor molecules, which makes it effective for eliminating many stubborn odors found in homes, vehicles, commercial spaces, and restoration environments. • MaxBlaster Service & Maintenance | Repairs & Support Info

Need service for your MaxBlaster ozone generator? Find maintenance tips, repair options, and support for keeping your machine in top condition. Service Department Maintain Your MaxBlaster Forever Skip to Submit Request How to Care For Your MaxBlaster The key to long-lasting performance is keeping the inside of your machine clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Always set it up where it can breathe the cleanest, driest air possible, and avoid running it on the floor. Instead, place it higher in the room where there is a better supply of oxygen, since ozone naturally settles downward during treatment. After each use, make sure the machine is completely dry before putting it back into the storage bag. For premier maintenance, we recommend blowing compressed air through the unit before and after use to clear away any dust or debris that may have settled on the plate pack. How to Diagnose Your MaxBlaster When operating correctly, your MaxBlaster should produce consistent glowing rows of corona discharge from the plate pack. The easiest way to test this is by bringing the machine into a very dark room and briefly looking into the outlet end (be careful not to breathe in too much ozone during this step). If you see an uneven spark or arcing from just one of the plates, the simplest fix is to replace the plate pack. If the machine shows no power at all, the issue may be as simple as a disconnected wire near the fuse holder on the inlet end. For further guidance, fill out the service form at the bottom of this page and we’ll walk you through the next steps. How to Replace the Plate Pack Replacement plate packs can be purchased directly from our website shop and self-installed, or you can ship your machine to us for full service. To replace the plate pack yourself, begin by removing the end piece on the inlet (filter) end, then take out the two bolts holding the generator pack in place and gently slide it out of the machine. Disconnect the plate pack from the two wire nuts connected to the transformer, then install the new plate pack by reversing the steps. Be careful to position the wire nuts so they do not touch other wires or components, as they can become hot during operation. Finally, double-check that the plates and steel mesh are perfectly aligned — left to right, forward and back — since proper alignment is essential for the machine to function correctly. How to Ship Your MaxBlaster to Us If you’d prefer to have us service your machine, you can send it to our full service department in Ohio. To begin, submit the service request form at the bottom of this page. We’ll provide you with the shipping address and detailed instructions. When shipping your unit, please include a letter with your contact information, return shipping address, and a clear description of your service request. You may use any carrier you like (UPS, FedEx, or USPS). Our turnaround times are fast, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way. How to Upgrade Your MaxBlaster If you’re ready to swap into a new machine, we offer a trade-in credit based on the age and condition of your current unit. Depending on the model you choose, you can receive anywhere from $50 to $250 toward the purchase of a new MaxBlaster. Introduction Maintaining excellent indoor air quality (IAQ) is a vital aspect of ensuring a pleasant and healthy environment for guests in hotels and motels. With the increasing emphasis on disinfection, MaxBlaster ozone generators have proven to be an extremely valuable tool for effectively purifying the air and eliminating odors. In this article, we will provide an overview of MaxBlaster ozone generators and explore how hotels and motels can benefit from their use, along with guidelines on how to use them safely and efficiently. Understanding Ozone Generators MaxBlaster ozone generators are devices that produce ozone (O3), a naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. Ozone is a powerful oxidant that helps in removing airborne contaminants, such as bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors. Ozone works by reacting with these pollutants, breaking them down and neutralizing them, ultimately resulting in cleaner and fresher air. Advantages of Ozone Generators Improved Air Quality: Ozone generators can significantly improve the overall air quality in hotel rooms and common areas. They effectively neutralize odors caused by smoking, cooking, pets, or other sources, providing guests with a cleaner and more pleasant environment. Enhanced Disinfection: Ozone has strong disinfectant properties and can help eliminate harmful microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses. By using ozone generators, hotels and motels can augment their existing cleaning and sanitation protocols, providing an additional layer of protection against potential health risks. Energy Efficiency: Ozone generators are energy-efficient devices that consume relatively low amounts of electricity. They can operate continuously or be set on timers to optimize their usage and minimize energy consumption. Fast Results: Given that the average hotel room is small (compared to an entire house) you can quickly reach the ozone concentrations necessary to disinfect and deodorize. Most hotel odors are relatively new and have not been saturated for long periods of time so they can be treated faster compared to other more saturated odors. On average, most hotel room odors can be treated within a couple of hours. Usage Guidelines While ozone generators offer numerous benefits, it is important to use them properly to avoid potential health risks. Follow these guidelines when utilizing ozone generators in hotels and motels: Occupancy Considerations : Ozone generators should be used when rooms are unoccupied. Guests and staff should not be present during the ozone treatment process as ozone can be harmful when inhaled in high concentrations. Room Conditions: It is very important that the hotel room be completely dry prior to running the ozone machine. Humidity and moisture will render the ozone treatment less effective, and may cause the components of the ozone machine to require service more frequently. The carpets, upholstery, and bed sheets should not wet or damp from a recent cleaning. Keep all areas that you wish to treat open and exposed: closets, drawers, etc. Machine Placement: Place the ozone machine in a central location so that the ozone gas can be distributed in an even manner across the room. Do not run the ozone machine on the floor. Ozone is heavier than air so it tends to go downwards. Placing the machine at least at counter top level is recommended. Duration and Intensity: Follow the MaxBlaster Run Time Chart for estimated ozone treatment times based on degree of odor and room size. Most light odors in hotels can be treated within a couple of hours. Stronger odors and larger rooms may require several hours or more of ozone treatment. Post-Treatment Ventilation: After the ozone treatment is complete, allow sufficient time for the ozone to naturally dissipate. Natural dissipation can take up to 2 hours for every 1 hour that you ran the ozone ozone. To speed up the airing out process, ventilate the room thoroughly by opening windows and doors, using fans, or operating the HVAC system to remove any remaining ozone and bring in fresh air. Maintenance: Preventative maintenance is the best maintenance. Clean and maintain the ozone generator regularly as per the manufacturer's instructions. This ensures optimal performance and longevity of the device. Recommendations The MaxBlaster PRO ozone generator is recommended for hotel and motel treatments. It combines professional strength ozone with a long-term lifespan with minimal maintenace. In between uses, store the machine inside of the fitted box (included with purchase) to prevent dust and moisture from entering the machine even during storage. Larger hotels may want to consider purchasing multiple machines to speed up treatment times, treat more than one room at the same time, and overall get greater ozone distribution, concentration, and results. Summary MaxBlaster ozone generators offer hotels and motels an effective solution to enhance indoor air quality, eliminate odors, and improve overall guest experience. By following our usage guidelines, hotels can harness the benefits of ozone generators while prioritizing the well-being and comfort of their guests. Can ozone generators be used to remove odors from hotel rooms? Yes. Ozone generators have been used for many years by hotels and motels to help eliminate stubborn odors from guest rooms. In many ways, hotel rooms are actually one of the easier environments to treat with ozone because the space is relatively small and the odors are usually recent. Most hotel room odors come from a specific stay or incident — such as cigarette smoke, food, pets, or mildew — rather than years of contamination like you might find in a private home. Because ozone is a gas, it can circulate throughout the room and penetrate materials such as carpeting, curtains, bedding, upholstery, and mattresses where odors tend to linger. When the ozone concentration becomes strong enough, the gas begins breaking apart the molecules responsible for those smells. This allows the odor to be eliminated rather than simply covered up with fragrances or cleaning products. What types of hotel room odors can ozone help eliminate? Ozone is particularly effective against odors that come from organic sources. In hotel environments this commonly includes cigarette smoke, food odors, mildew, pet smells, and other guest-related contamination that may remain after checkout. These odors often become embedded in porous materials such as carpet fibers, drapes, upholstery, bedding, and mattresses. When ozone is introduced into the room and allowed to reach sufficient concentration, it reacts with the odor molecules responsible for those smells and breaks them apart through oxidation. This process destroys the odor compounds instead of simply masking them with fragrances. Because guest turnover happens quickly in hospitality environments, ozone treatments are often used as a practical way to reset a room after an incident so it can return to a clean, neutral condition for the next guest. How are ozone treatments typically performed in hotel rooms? Ozone treatments in hotel rooms are usually performed by placing an ozone generator inside the room and allowing it to run for a controlled treatment cycle. The room should be clean and completely dry before starting the treatment, with no wet or damp carpeting, bedding, or other materials present. Moisture can reduce ozone’s effectiveness and may place unnecessary stress on the equipment. The machine is typically positioned at least at countertop height rather than directly on the floor so the ozone can disperse more evenly throughout the space. Doors and windows are generally kept closed so the gas can build to an effective concentration. Closets, drawers, and other enclosed areas are often left open so the ozone can circulate freely into the places where odors may be trapped. While ozone can move through the air and penetrate porous materials, it does not pass through solid barriers to reach inside closed spaces. In many hotel situations treatments are relatively short — often around thirty minutes — although longer cycles may be used when dealing with more stubborn odor problems. How long do ozone treatments for hotel rooms usually take? Treatment times can vary depending on the strength of the odor and the size of the room being treated. In many hotel situations the treatment cycle may be relatively short because the space is small and the odors are often the result of a recent stay or incident. Short treatments of around thirty minutes are common for lighter odor situations. However, stronger odors such as cigarette smoke or food contamination may require longer cycles or repeated treatments to fully eliminate the smell. The goal is simply to allow enough time for the ozone to circulate throughout the room and reach the materials where odors tend to linger. After the generator stops running, the room should be aired out so the ozone can dissipate before anyone re-enters the space. Is ozone safe to use in hotel guest rooms? Ozone treatments should always be performed in unoccupied rooms. Guests, staff, and pets should not remain in the room while the ozone generator is operating. The concentrations used for odor removal are intended to treat the space itself rather than be breathed for extended periods of time. After the treatment cycle is finished, the room should be aired out so the ozone can dissipate before anyone re-enters the space. Ozone naturally breaks back down into oxygen over time, and ventilation helps speed that process. When used properly with these basic precautions, ozone can be a useful tool for eliminating odors in hospitality environments while leaving no chemical residue behind. Why do many hotels use ozone instead of fragrance-based odor removers? Many traditional odor control products rely on fragrances or chemicals designed to mask unpleasant smells. While these products may temporarily cover an odor, they do not always eliminate the source of the problem. Ozone works differently because it reacts directly with the odor molecules themselves through a process called oxidation. This reaction breaks the odor compounds apart rather than simply hiding them behind another scent. In hospitality environments where guests expect a room to feel clean and neutral, this can be an important advantage. Instead of leaving behind strong perfumes or cleaning fragrances, ozone treatments help return the room to a more natural, odor-free condition once the space has been properly aired out. BACK TO TOP

Introduction MaxBlaster ozone generators are powerful tools used by owners of large properties to eliminate odors, destroy pathogens, and purify the air. In this article, we will explore how our ozone generators are providing effective solutions for a wide range of applications. The Power of Ozone Generators MaxBlaster ozone generators work by converting oxygen molecules (O2) into ozone (O3) through a corona discharge process. Ozone is an unstable gas that readily reacts with various pollutants and contaminants in the air, neutralizing them effectively. It acts as a natural air purifier, targeting and eliminating organic compounds, bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors. Advantages of Ozone Generators Comprehensive Purification: Unlike air fresheners or filters, ozone generators provide comprehensive air purification. They pro-actively target and neutralize contaminants, eliminating odors at their source rather than merely masking them. Non-Toxic and Environmentally Friendly : Ozone is a natural molecule that quickly reverts back to oxygen after completing its oxidizing task. It leaves no harmful residues, making it safe for humans, animals, and the environment. However, caution must be exercised by ensuring the treatment space is unoccupied during the ozone applications process. Efficient and Time-Saving: Ozone treatment is a rapid and efficient process. It can quickly disinfect and deodorize large areas without the need for extensive manual cleaning or chemical treatments, saving both time and effort. Versatility: Ozone generators can be used in various settings and applications. They are highly adaptable and can be easily positioned in a variety of positions, heights, and directly into HVAC systems. Easy to Use: Using ozone generators may seem intimidating at first. But once you know a few key rules, you can apply them to just about any ozone project. Successfully treating large properties with ozone generators is relatively easy with the right equipment and advice. Types of Large Properties MaxBlaster ozone machines have been successfully used to disinfect and deodorize a wide range of large properties including: Restaurants, Warehouses, Churches, School Buildings, Fitness Centers, Theaters, Auditoriums, Event Venues, Indoor Sports Facilities, and Community Centers. Considerations While ozone generators offer numerous benefits for air treatment in large properties, it is essential to consider the following: Occupant Safety: Ozone can be harmful when inhaled in high concentrations. Therefore, it is mandatory to operate ozone generators in unoccupied spaces. Allow enough time for the ozone to naturally dissipate (wait 2 hours for every 1 hour that you ran the ozone machine) or speed up the airing out process by opening windows, doors, and using fans. Equipment Selection: To permanently kill odors and treat mold, virus, and toxins you need to reach "shock" levels of ozone concentration. For large properties, this will require the use of multiple ozone machines. However, if your goal is simply to minimize or control mild odors you do not need to reach such high levels of ozone concentration. Talk with us prior to purchasing for a custom recommendation based on area size, degree of odor, occupancy times, and the speed in which you need to get the project done. No Excess Moisture/Humidity: The treatment area should be completely dry prior to running the ozone machine(s). If necessary, use a dehumidifier prior to the ozone application process. High humidity will render the ozone treatment less effective and may impact the long term maintenance frequency for the ozone machine. Ozone Machine Placement: Place the ozone machines in a central location and in a manner that the ozone gas will fill up the treatment space evenly. Place the machine as high as possible. Ozone is heavier than oxygen and tends to go downwards. If you are treating a property with high ceilings, use fans to help pull/push ozone towards the ceiling. Never run an ozone machine on the floor. Treatment Times: Treatment times vary based on area size, degree of odor, and the amount of ozone you are generating. Our philosophy is to use enough ozone machines to reach "shock" levels quickly and then allow the ozone application process to continue for several hours. Contact us for custom recommendations for your specific project. Recommendations For large properties we recommend our PRO or PRO-G ozone generator quantity packs. Choose the PRO quantity packs for applications where you will be frequently traveling with and/or moving the machines to various locations. Choose the PRO-G quanity packs if you will be using the machines primarily from the same location. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the degree of odor, and the speed at which you need to complete the project, it can take several ozone machines to do the job successfully and efficiently. Can ozone generators treat very large buildings like warehouses or restaurants? Yes — you can treat just about any size property if it’s done correctly. Over the years we’ve helped customers treat warehouses, restaurants, churches, and many other large commercial buildings. The key factor in every situation is ozone concentration. The goal is to generate enough ozone within the space so the gas can build to levels strong enough to penetrate materials where odors or contamination are present. Because ozone naturally breaks down into oxygen over time, maintaining that concentration level is what makes the treatment effective. For very large spaces, professionals often run multiple ozone generators at the same time or divide the property into sections. With the right equipment and proper setup, even extremely large properties can be treated successfully using ozone technology. How do you generate enough ozone to treat a very large property? The key is reaching the proper ozone concentration within the treatment area. One common approach is dividing a large property into smaller sections and treating them individually. When the space is reduced, it becomes much easier to build higher ozone concentration levels, allowing the gas to penetrate deeper into materials where odors or contamination may exist. This can often be done room by room or by using temporary plastic partitions to isolate specific areas during treatment. If the property cannot be divided and the area is one large open space, the solution is simply to scale the ozone output. Professionals often do this by running multiple ozone generators at the same time and spreading them throughout the property. This increases total ozone production and also helps distribute the ozone more evenly across the entire treatment area. How long does an ozone treatment usually take for a large building? Large-property ozone treatments can run for many hours and sometimes even 24 hours or longer depending on the level of treatment you are trying to achieve. In some cases, a single powerful ozone generator may allow you to smell ozone throughout a large building and lightly freshen the air. However, that type of light treatment is very different from reaching the higher concentrations needed for deeper odor destruction or true disinfection. When the goal is to address heavier contamination such as mold, bacteria, or other organic odors, significantly higher ozone concentrations are required. Professionals usually achieve this by increasing treatment time, running multiple ozone generators at once, or combining both methods. Longer runtimes and higher total ozone output allow the gas to penetrate deeper into materials where odors and contaminants are embedded. What types of odors can ozone remove in large commercial spaces? Ozone generators are very effective at removing many types of organic-based odors commonly found in large buildings. This includes smoke odors, cooking odors, mold and mildew smells, pet odors, and the musty odors that often develop in older properties. Because ozone works through oxidation, it breaks apart odor molecules at their source rather than simply masking the smell with fragrance or chemicals. When used properly and at high enough concentrations, ozone can penetrate deep into materials such as drywall, wood, fabrics, and carpeting where odors often hide. This is why ozone is widely used by restoration professionals and property managers when dealing with difficult odor problems. In addition to odor removal, high-concentration ozone treatments are also commonly used to help disinfect spaces and assist in certain mold remediation situations. Is it safe to use ozone generators in restaurants, churches, or office buildings? Yes — ozone generators are commonly used to treat restaurants, churches, offices, and many other types of commercial buildings. The most important rule is that the space should remain unoccupied while the treatment is running. Ozone works best when it is allowed to build to higher concentrations without people or animals present in the treatment area. If someone briefly enters an ozoned space for a minute or two, most people will simply notice the strong, bleach-like smell and step back out. However, higher concentrations should not be breathed for extended periods of time. After a treatment is complete, most of the ozone naturally breaks down and dissipates within a couple of hours. Even so, it’s still a good practice to ventilate the space and allow fresh air circulation before fully reoccupying the area. How do you determine what ozone equipment is needed for a large property? It depends on the size of the property, the severity of the odor problem, and how quickly you want the treatment completed. In many situations, large buildings require a combination of ozone output and thoughtful machine placement throughout the space in order to reach effective concentration levels. The goal is to allow the ozone to spread evenly so it can penetrate the materials where odors or contamination are present. When customers contact us, we usually ask a few quick questions about the property and what they are dealing with. From there we can recommend the right MaxBlaster setup for the job. Sometimes that means a single machine, and other times it involves running multiple units together to build the ozone levels needed for a successful treatment. BACK TO TOP
